Beezid.com

Beezid.com is a popular penny auction site that has recently started advertising on TV, making it one of the larger auction sites and, of course, making it one that people have a lot of questions about.

A penny auction site, for those of you that don’t know, is an auction site where each bid you place is limited to one penny.  This results in items that cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars being sold for an unbelievably low fraction of the cost.

However, the difference between a penny auction and a standard auction website, is that at a penny auction site you must pay for each bid that you place.  In general, these bids can cost anywhere between 50 cents and $1.00 per bid.  So when you see that an item has sold for $50.00, remember that means it sold for 5000 bids, and even at 50 cents a piece that means the true sale price of the item is $2,500.00.

At Beezid.com, there is not standard price per bid.  You buy a package of bids, and the larger (and more expensive) package you are willing to buy, the cheaper each individual bid is – as low as 60 cents a bid.  But if you are unwilling to invest a lot of money into Beezid bids right away, and would like a smaller and cheaper package, you could actually pay 90 cents per bid.  This means when you bid “one penny” each time, you are actually out almost one dollar per bid – and that could get expensive really fast.

So is Beezid.com a Scam?

In general, I don’t recommend any penny auction websites.  It has been well documented at this point that penny auction sites are far more like gambling sites than they are auction sites.  Real auctions don’t make you pay for the right to bid, nor do they limit you to a specific bid amount.  In a penny auction site, if you lose the auction, you lose money.

The other problem with all penny auction sites is that the website acts as both seller and auctioneer.  There is no third party to ensure that the behavior of the seller and buyer are appropriate.  You’ll read complaints all over the internet of people who had the last bid on a penny auction site, were declared the winner, and then the auction magically started again with more people bidding and the price being driven up.  Beezid.com itself has had these complaints.

But who are you supposed to complain to?  The website?  Who just earned a lot more money from letting the auction continue longer than it should have?  Pretty much 100% of customers report that their responses in reporting these types of problems is the website claiming a “computer glitch” and apologizing for not being able to do anything.

And the problem with penny auctions is that in these cases, you don’t just lose the item you were trying to win when these “computer glitches” happen, you also lose money.  This is why I tell people to stay away from penny auctions in general.

As for Beezid.com, they have had all the above complaints and then some.  People have reported serious issues with their customer service, most specifically repeatedly receiving automated general help responses instead of a real email that addresses their specific questions and concerns.  Customers report having to email and call repeatedly before having their problems addressed.

Another problem that is unique to Beezid.com, is the fact that they have no “Buy It Now” feature.  Those of you familiar with penny auctions know the Buy It Now feature allows the losers of any given auction to buy the item they were bidding on at full retail price, less the amount of money they spent on bids trying to win it.

So if you were bidding on a $300 iPhone, and spent $90 in bids trying to win it, but still lost, for an extra $210 you can just purchase the item from their site.  In this way you lost the auction, but at least you haven’t lost all the money you invested in trying to win it.

On Beezid.com, however, there is no Buy It Now feature.  So if you lose $90 bidding on an iPhone, you have really just lost $90.  For all these reasons, I would recommend staying away from Beezid.com.

  • Beezid asks for your credit card info, they NEVER say, theyre going to charge your account $70.00,theyre charging me $70.00 when I bitched they basically said F--K off....just another scam.....
    • Hmm that's funny, cuz when I was signing up, right above where you type your credit card info, it showed an itemized list which shows what I would pay the $70 for. Maybe you should read everything before typing in your credit card numbers.

If you just close that screen, and log back in, you can participate in the penny auctions.
  • Honestly beezid can be a scam but I've spent 300 $ and got at least 20 auction wins by 800$ go for the little things in cherry auctions. The Big items will go on for hours and hours with bots and unrealistic amounts of bids being placed. You just have to play your cards right on this site. Be smart about it and don't bid for something everyone on the site is bidding for you'll just be eaten up and spit out. Good site but when you win something it takes a couple weeks to get shipped which is pretty inconvenient. Beezid Is a great site unless your stupid and place all your bids on things like laptops TVs etc. This site will screw stupid people over hardcore. Good site if you have strategy and intelligence
  • I would give it a 0 if possible. DO NOT give them any money.

I make the mistake of not checking reviews first so they got my money, but it was just a lesson learned to always check reviews first.
  • Well I'm glad I went here FIRST" before going to that Beezids auction outfit lol ..... Stay tuned folks to fox 4 , I smell a Big class action law suit brewing in the air , with Who Ever owns this site.... Just hope they don't take the money and run off to some island enjoying Margaretville , with all the peoples money" , before that happens though .

They Use to have a lot of crocked seller people on Ebay back about 19 years ago now , but That Company Has Really Cleaned up there back yard , and gottin rid of those type crocks . I have bought a LOT" of thing's off Ebay in the last few years , and can say , I've had Nothing but GOOD" things to say about the average seller on that site.... Very Good Experience using Ebay Actions and Paypal" ..... hope that helps out y'all... I Hate to here about or see somebody get ripped off . Especially on this Internet . It's a scary place y'all , protect yourself the BEST" you can , by doing your home work on here....

  • So, the TV ad promises penny auctions. OK, they are there. But first you have to join... that's fine. I thought they wanted my card info in order to bid. The site is vague about why they want your card info until you give it. BOOM they took $70 out of my account. I called the number and told them I could not afford $70. They basically said "to bad, so sad!" That it was a done deal. So, I might as well go into the site and bid. So, ok, I start bidding on some items, and I get a call from BEEZID! Oh, you're bidding on items you can't bid on. Here buy some more bids and then you can... What a SCAM! The auctions are run by bid-bots. Every time you put in a bid on something cool, and there's only 2 or 3 seconds left, it adds another 15 seconds and the bid bots out bid you. Each time you bid you lose those bids, until your account is empty. I called again and asked again to have my money returned. I was told no, and got to there "store" and buy something with my $70. I can't afford this. DO NOT JOIN BEEZID, IT IS A RIP OFF. i WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!
    • On the very first screen, right after you create login credentials, it shows you exactly what your paying the $70 dollars for. It is for a certain amount of bids to use in an auction. You just have to look for it, it is above where you type in your credit card number. Read everything before you just go giving away your credit card numbers people. It's not a scam, it's basically a gambling website. Most of your problems can be solved by reading all the details but hey, no one does that. You just saw a line labeled "credit card number" and you filled it out. That's your fault.
    • Jayne I had the same problem. I got to a supervisor who told me that it was in the $70 fee was in the TOS. That's a load of shit! Ok that's lie #1. The supervisor told me he did not have the power to do a refund (lie #2). I asked for HIS supervisor and then was told that I would get the same answer. He also went on to say "Now Kelli you'd hate for me to lose my job over $70. That is such a load of crap! He offered me more credits which I finally agreed to, but then when he started showing me how to bid, I gave up. I then called my bank to file a claim against this charge and cancelled my card. Now they will not get any money from me. They can take their penny bets and shove them where the sun doesn't shine.
    • SCAMMERS!!!!!!!!
    • THEY DON'T DESERVE EVEN ONE STAR!!!!!!!!!
  • When nearly every review is 1 star u know it sucks
    • Ya but EVERYONE is not that smart, or savvy. Most of these people typed in their credit card numbers before they even read anything. When you stereotype about people, keep in mind that most of them are dumb enough to do things like that.
  • At first I thought there was a guarantee about purchasing your first bid pack. In the advertisement it said that you would have an unlimited amount of bids, this is true in a sense but there are different types of bids and those bids you purchased were only for a certain set. P.S NO REFUNDS and they will take your bids away after a while.
  • Started out as a low price Craigslist ad bait then once they have your email they tell you to go to this cam site. AVOID!
