Direct Commerce Academy Reviews – Legit or Scam?

Direct Commerce AcademyDirect Commerce Academy is another work from home business opportunity that is made up of big promises and no follow through.  There are so many complaints filed against Direct Commerce Academy that I’m actually surprised they are still in business.

First of all, Direct Commerce Academy says that for $2.97 you can have a trial of their program and the training they offer.  If you are not interested in purchasing the program at that time, there is no obligation.

The problem with this, however, is that you have to read their Terms & Conditions to understand that when they say “no obligation” they mean “no obligation as long as you formally cancel within 5 days of purchasing the trial.”  Countless people have reported that while there is no mention of a 5 day trial anywhere on the sales page, after 5 days they were charged another $138.67 – or in some cases $139.95 – for 3 months access to the website.

There have been reported cases of people even being charged before the 5 day trial was over.  In any case, once customers called the company to complain, they were told that Direct Commerce Academy does not provide refunds, regardless of your circumstances.

In addition to their shady billing practices, the Direct Commerce Academy is not actually registered within the United States.  When credit card companies provide their clients with the number to call and complain, in general the company is listed as being located in South America.

Finally, as if you needed any more reason to stay away, the services they actually claim to provide you in exchange for your $138.67 is reported as being ineffective, and definitely not worth it.  All in all, it’s in your best interest to avoid the Direct Commerce Academy.

  • These people FRAUDULENTLY charged almost $600 on my credit card..WHY hasn't anything been done when I saw COUNTLESS people on the internet being ripped off by the same company???? They are thieves...I'm getting the authorities involved..
  • its totally a scam company that guy has charged my card so many times and Nathan has told me its one time charged but he charged it so many times.
  • When I saw the $68 charge, I called these scammers and they said that I had gone past the 5 days. I then told them that I had instructed VISA that this charge was fraudulent and VISA closed my account.

I sent an email to the gal from whom I caught this "infection" today, I immediately got another email like my first one. It has invaded her address book and God knows how much damage is in store.

I will try to find out what it will take to purge this infection from my and her computer. I've asked my friends if they have seen any indication that I have transmitted this or if they have received the original "Direct Commerce Academy" email. Nothing yet.
  • I was also scammed, i was charged 68.71 and i was never aware of this charge after making several phone calls to make an attempt to get a refund, it was unsuccessful so i called my bank and canceled my card!!!!
  • I found out the hard way after a call from my bank's fraud department. There was not contract to read only a $2.97 introductory charge. Once I hit send, I got a call from the fraud department. Three times this company has charged my account. I tried all the phone numbers available to cancel, even a fax number I found on their web site. No answer on any of the numbers. This is not a US company, so why are they allowed to operate in the US?
  • I was scammed as well but got a discounted charge of $68.71 5 days after I was charged $2.97. My credit card company must have known it was a scam because they called me immediately after I placed the charge on-line to verify I made the charge. They didn't bother to tell me the merchant was "suspicious" since they were from out of the US (Belize/Cyprus) so I didn't do anything right away.

After getting ~20-30 spam emails once the $2.97 charge was placed, I didn't want to click on anything & don't think I even started my trial period. However, I later saw I was billed the $68.71 and realized I'd been scammed. I called the company (800-426-9694) and tried to cancel on 11/18 but they said their system was down & call back later. The next day, the 800# was "no longer in service". I got through via 800-263-5114 & canceled my membership but they refused to refund the $68.71.

My credit card company stated they could not dispute the charge since it was done on-line & I entered my credit card info after accepting their terms & agreement (which I never got & did not get a receipt for the $2.97 charge). I called again to try to get a refund & asked to speak to a manager. I was told to call back later at 800-422-1945 & that # asked that I call 101-1515-8000 which I didn't call. I finally got another rep at 800-263-5114 & they told me they would refund $50 within 10 business days but I'm not sure I'll ever see it. Does anyone know how I can get the original terms & agreement I supposedly agreed to?
  • I was duped today too. I was sent a link from a contact on my email contact list, which naturally led me to believe that it was legit. So, after doing the $2.97 trial; I researched it online. As soon as I read that it was a scam, I called the company to get a refund. The first number was a marketing company that stops the transaction of the monthly fee. I was then transferred to DCA, I explained that I was not interested and wanted to make sure that my card was not charged further. I was not so worried about the $2.95, but then was informed that there was an additional $29.95 charged.

The associate on the other end was surly, rude, beligerant and a bully. He actually threatened to hang up on me. I wanted a refund since I did not agree to continue with the program and that reviewing the information shouldn't have cost me $30! I asked to speak to a supervisor and he said it may take 10 minutes or more. I told him it was worth the wait. 8 minutes later, he comes on the line saying that since I had 'registered' the same day that I'd get a refund. I hope that the confirmation number was legit. Lesson Learned!!
  • I THINK IT IS NOT THE WRONG OF THIS COMPANY IF YOU GUYS WER'E CHARGED... FIRST OF ALL IF YOU WILL SEE THEIR WEBSITE THEY FOLLOW THE RULES TO PUT THE TERMS ANYWHERE ON THEIR SITE AND WHEN YOU SEE THE NEXT PAGE YOU WILL NOTICE A CLEAR PRINT ABOUT THE CHARGES AFTER 5 DAYS IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE OR NOT... LET'S NOT BLAME OTHERS WHILE WE SHOULD BE DISGUSTED WITH OURSELVES IF WE ARE TOO TIRED TO READ.. SHAME ON YOU GUYS!!!!
  • I wish I had read this before trying out!!! It just happened to me today!!! I called and was furious because I had no idea where this charge was coming from!!! ANYONE WANTING TO TRY OUT THIS PRODUCT, BE AWARE IT IS A SCAM!!
  • Just in case it was not a legit company I gave them a travel debit card that only has $17 in it, so they won't be able to get any more money out of me.
