FocusGroup.com

FocusGroup.com is a market research companies that offer individuals the ability to be paid for their knowledge, information, and feedback on various topics, products, and services.

Companies use their research as an opportunity to communicate directly with people who either use their products, or those who don’t use their products, so they can figure out what they are doing right, what they are doing wrong, and what they should be doing in the future.

Members who are interested in using this company to earn some extra money can sign up for free on their website, and then be eligible to participate in focus groups, one-on-one interviews, phone interviews, and online surveys.

How Does It Work?

Customers must sign up and fill out a detailed profile. This is necessary, because when companies do their research, they look for a very specific, targeted market to be sure they are getting the most accurate information.

You can choose to elect yourself for specific studies or interviews being done in your area, for which you must take individual surveys or questionnaires to see if you qualify, and if you do you will be notified.

Once you’ve completed your in person or online market research study, you will be offered payment, which generally amounts to between $45 and $250 for in person interviews and varies for online research. This payment is generally offered via a pre-paid Visa card, check, gift card, or cash.

Is It Legit?

Market research in general is a legitimate industry with which to make extra money, and FocusGroup.com specifically seems very legit as well. They put their members through all the necessary questionnaires and surveys to make sure they are qualified for the studies, and they offer legitimate forms of monetary compensation when the study is concluded.

In addition, FocusGroup.com promises they will never ask their members to purchase products, take part in promotions, or any other sales activities, which isn’t true of many other market research companies.

Because of this, FocusGroup.com certainly seems like an honest company that may be worthwhile for users who are interested in making extra money using market research.

  • Same thing with me I take surveys and never qualify for them so what's the point it is one of my information I give it a star
  • Scam to the max.

    Calling BBB tomorrow AM
  • I passed the screening and am headed to the focus group tomorrow! I can imagine that I won't be qualified for every survey as the questions are very specific. Essentially, in order to have the least biased group possible, I can understand the need for vetting the candidates, just like taking a Sociology class and having to find a decent sample size that is not skewed. I can post more once I completed tomorrow's survey. Good luck all!
  • scam. I've responded to every survey they've sent me and I never qualify. Based on the wide range of answers I've provided for countless surveys I cannot imagine why I haven't ever been a match.
  • I believe this company is a scam. I have filled out many many survey screeners and do no qualify for any! On top of that, I finally got a call from someone here to confirm that I passed the screener and they wanted to set up a time. Everything was all set and I was good to go for an upcoming focus group. Less than 5 minutes later I get a call again saying that they are sorry but the focus group I was already accepted into is full. I think they have you take these surveys and dont actually pay you and that the "screeners" are actually the survey!
  • I have filled out many of their surveys without being selected for any of their studys.

I think they are selling my info that I have given them, because I am getting hammered by phone solicitors.
  • This is a waste of time.... I have Done hundreds of those stupid screenings just to be told I don’t qualify! Such a scam and waste of time. They ask you all the questions they need for their answers and then say you don’t qualify so they don’t have to pay you when in all actuality they’ve already gotten what they needed for the survey. Waste of time and energy people
    • Exactly. I went through a screening for "Beverages", answered a bunch of fields about alcohol, then didn't qualify. "They ask you all the questions they need for their answers and then say you don’t qualify so they don’t have to pay you when in all actuality they’ve already gotten what they needed for the survey. Waste of time and energy people"

I think you hit it right on the head.
  • AFTER DOING A SURVEY, I GOT CALLED BUT COULD NOT DO THE TRAVEL/LOCATION FOR THE SURVEY AND AM CURRENTLY AWAITING TO FIND OUT IF I QUALIFY FOR A FOCUS GROUP HERE IN MANHATTAN.

    LUCY:)

ALL YOU DO IS GET MY INFO FOR FREE AND I AM FED-UP WITH YOUR UNFAIR AND CHEATING SCAMING WAYS THIS IS THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN MAKE MONEY. AND YOU WILL NO LONGER MAKE ANY MONEY OFF OF ME ANY MORE. UNSUBSCRIBE ME YOU THIEFS!!!
    • Plural of thief is thieves
    • Are you sure you were on the right site...? Because I haven't been charged for taken pre-qualification surveys...

Btw...Pretty much anything that requires you to pay in order to be paid, is generally a scam. Everyone and their mother knows that.
