OpinionWorld.com Reviews – Legit or Scam?

OpinionWorldOpinion World (www.OpinionWorld.com) is a market research site that pays members for taking surveys.  Opinion World has been around for a couple of years now, and though they used to be available internationally, they are currently only available to US residents.

For those of who you don’t know, market research or trying to make money taking surveys is one of the oldest and most popular ways of earning extra money online.  While you won’t become rich or even be able to replace your regular income by taking online surveys, it is an easy way of making some extra money.

Each market research company operates in a unique way, so it is important to understand the policies and characteristics of each company before you sign up.

Making Money with OpinionWorld

Many market research websites entice their customers by promoting the idea of making money taking online surveys, because that is the “easy” method that most potential members are thinking about.  In order to make money, all you have to do is answer questions about things you already think or believe, or your own personal habits.

But once members sign up at these other companies, they quickly realize that they are expected to do much, much more than simply take surveys every once in awhile.  There are ads to watch, referrals to make, consumer panels to join, and product trials to sign up for.  Sometimes it can get a bit complicated and even expensive – if you don’t cancel those trials on time, you can get charged for products or services you never truly wanted.

But OpinionWorld is one of the rare market research websites that simply wants you to take surveys.  It’s free to become a member and you won’t be pestered to participate in anything other than the occasional survey.

However, Opinion World doesn’t offer traditional monetary compensation.  Instead, you will be given points for the surveys you complete (on average roughly 100 points per paid survey) and once you receive 1000 points (which equals $10.00) you can cash out your account and either request a gift card from one of their retail partners, or you can request the funds added to a PayPal account.

Strategies for Earning with OpinionWorld

Opinion World is also different from other market research companies in that it offers you shorter, less detailed surveys to take on an almost daily basis, however, you won’t be paid.  Instead, when you complete these surveys, Opinion World will donate money to charity.

The surveys for which you actually get paid come far less frequently, anywhere from once a week to once a month.  However, there are some things you can do to increase your earning potential.

  1. Keep your profile updated.  The more specific you are with your details, and the better you are at recording changes to your profile, the more likely you are to get surveys that you will qualify for and therefore get paid for.  Any life changes from losing a job to having a child to switching from regular to decaf coffee will make a difference in the surveys you receive, so be diligent.
  2. Take advantage of the “extras.”  Every once in awhile OpinionWorld will send you an email, asking that you update your profile, or confirm some information for them.  Often they will offer you a small point reward for doing so.  So do it!  It will take two seconds, and you’ll reach your redemption level much quicker.
  3. Enter yourself in the drawings.  Opinion World chooses randomly selected prize winners from random drawings they do on a regular basis.  Make sure you are always entered for these drawings.
  4. Finally, take every survey you are offered.  Maybe a survey looks too long or you know before you take it that you might get disqualified.  Do it anyway.  Every time you are disqualified from a survey (and therefore don’t get paid) OpinionWorld enters you into a “Thank You” prize drawing to ensure that you haven’t exactly wasted your time.

The bottom line is that Opinion World never pretends that you’ll get rich taking surveys, they won’t bombard your email account with offers from their partner companies, and they have a reputation for reliably paying their customers.  In the world of market research, this makes OpinionWorld a legitimate company to work with.

Average Rating for " Opinion World " is 0 out of 5 based on reviews.
  • Total scam. As soon as I tried to redeem, account got terminated.
  • Like many others my account was suddenly deactivated and I am out all the points I had earned. I did get a response from them saying they would check into my account and today I got the reply that I violated their rules. No idea what I did and I have demanded to know what I supposedly did to be deactivated and my points forfeited. They also said I cannot do any surveys with SSI. I see here many others are getting deactivated for no reason too. Here is their response:

After a thorough review of your account, our Accounts Department has determined that the activity on your account has violated our terms and conditions. Unfortunately, accounts that violate our terms and conditions can no longer be restored. Our Accounts Department has made the final decision to permanently deactivate your account along with your point balance.

Because this account is permanently disabled, you will not be able to access it in the future, and you will not be able to re-register with Opinion World nor be able to participate in any surveys offered by SSI.
    • Update: My account was re-activated after I contacted the BBB. My acct. with survey spot was also re-activated and I cashed out with survey spot for a $10 gift card. (both opinion world and survey spot are with SSI survey). When opinion world was activated I found I was missing 1000 points. I emailed them and they responded I had the correct amount of points and I had cashed out the day I notified them of being shorted 1000 points. I wrote back I cashed out with survey spot for 1000 points and not opinion world. Well guess what? My accounts for both opinion world and survey spot have been deactivated again. I have emailed them and told them to re-activate my accounts and they have no reason to deactivate me for anything. If I don't hear anything I will contact the BBB again.
  • I'm just another poor sucker who has dutifully filled out surveys for the last year or so and then had my account terminated "for breaching their terms and conditions" - ie having the nerve to try to redeem points through Paypal. I have of course contacted the helpdesk bt after reading what everybody else has to say, I doubt if I will ever hear from them. I may need to contact Consumer Affairs.
  • I have been terminated from the survey without any reasons. OpinionWorld still owe me $20 from the 3 1/2 hrs survey I answered last week. This is ridiculous as it is as also after saying it will never sell your information to third party, it is and now all I got is spams, terminated account and unsettled balance. Very outrageous!
  • It's been fine for a few months, when I claimed my latest payment through paypal my account was suddenly terminated for violating their terms and coditions. All I've been doing is doing their surveys and claiming when I have enough points lol.

    Appalling.
  • It looked legit at first and I think it was befor SSI took over, but I'm waiting for 5 days for a new survey invitation, and they keep saying that I have to complete my profile.... hmmmm... wait I already did that twice even if it says 100% complete!
  • I was a member and I filled in surveys dailly and I made in 1 week 10€. Yet they didn't payed me and even worse I goth banned! Do not waste your time on this awfull site!!
  • Awful waste of time, complete scam. Do not join up
  • Also had the same problem as others with being terminated when I came time to cash out the reward.

In my case I had already cashed out as small $10 reward and that went well so I continued to do surveys. Accumulated another 1000+ points went to cash it out and suddenly was terminated, no reason given.

Yes I have emailed them but don't expect a reply.
  • the same happened to me. i do some surveys than iam offed a 3 and a half hour survey that turned into a 4 and a half hour survey and as soon as i finish it i try to review my account and nope... its terminated. so i try to contact help desk and now they want my full name, address, date of birth and location..WTF! errr NOPE. its a shame i did not look for reviews before i wasted so much time.
