ShopAtHome.com Reviews
Is Shop At Home Legit or a Scam?

Shop At HomeShopAtHome.com is another website offering coupons and discounts to customers who shop at their website instead of directly at the store.  Shop At Home claims to link its customers to over 3,000 different retailers and over 700 different magazines and e-newsletters.

In addition to offering coupons and special deals, Shop At Home has a Cash Back rebate program where they allow you to earn up to 35% of the money you have spent shopping on their site in a rebate check.  You may get a rebate check up to 12 times in one year, though you must wait until you have accrued at least $20.00 in your Cash Back account before you can request a check to be mailed to you.

While many customers seem satisfied with the number of retailers linked to ShopAtHome.com and the various coupons and discounts they provide, there are some complaints about ShopAtHome.com worth mentioning.

First, people have claimed that they have difficulties receiving the rebate checks once they’ve requested them.  One customer commented that he requested a check when he had reached $28, but he never received the check and his account continued to grow with each new order.  But once his account reached $35, suddenly the balance dropped to $0 and he never received a check.  After multiple calls to Shop At Home, this issue still hadn’t been resolved.

Another customer complained that after trying multiple times to order a product online and being told her card was declined, she called customer service and the service rep told her it was a website malfunction and he would place the order over the phone.  A week later, her card was charged over $2,000 for her repeated attempts to order the product online.

When she called Shop At Home customer service, she was told that it was her responsibility to cancel each individual online order, even though she had originally been told that her card was not accepted, therefore no order was made.  When she asked why the customer service rep who placed her order never explained that to her, she was told that the rep wouldn’t give that information unless “specifically asked.”

In general, it seems that Shop At Home’s biggest problem is its customer service department.  Customers generally report good satisfaction with their stores and discounts, but when they do have a problem and must deal with customer service, that’s when the problems begin.

  • I didn't receive my $15 rebate on a over $400 purchase. I've emailed them several times and I even sent them my receipt. Yes I did go through their email to purchase on my Toshiba 55" 4K Ultra hd television. I have given you my phone number twice to resolve this issue and never heard a word from them. I still have your email and the receipt I sent you. Plus all the emails I sent you. Quite a while ago I received an email from you saying you are checking the receipt I sent you with Best Buy. I really doubt I'll hear back from you by phone because I think you are a scam.
  • I've tried, several times, to get to Shopat5home web site, and am provided no information as to how I might purchase the $5 thing that attaches to computer and allows the coupons to be printed. How may I find out whether or not this element is valid or just a sham?
    • You should NEVER have to pay for anything on ANY website like this. NEVER PAY FOR ANYTHING. The second they say they need your credit card info or a payment, IT'S A SCAM! You need to pay for something to print coupons? What the heck? That doesn't even make sense. You print them out. That's it.
  • Want to delete the program off my computer. No option on the many pages to do so. No customer service chat or phone number anywhere on the site. Pathetic!
  • Will use another cash back company, because 1 chance to 100, that you will receive your cash back.

I not use The ShopAtHome company more. Because:

    1. The ShopAtHome has deceived me, and do not pay more than 15 cash back.

ShopAtHome uses the following scheme: if you say about the missing of your money, the more often you get a letter like this:

"We have contacted the merchant affiliate regarding your purchase. The store records do not attribute the referral for your order to ShopAtHome.com and will not credit us for your order."

A reason about what happened, you do not know. And if you just went through the ShopAtHome website to store site, and stayed there until the full payment, too.

Or, if you said later about the missing money (terms I do not understand: they called 30 days and 90 days - perhaps the term is called depending on the time of your treatment, but it is not in your side).

    2. The company is engaged in discrimination. I came from another country and do not speak in English so good, and ShopAtHome use it, that not pay me my cash back money.

I've got a lawyer, and I'm going to get my money from the ShopAtHome.

Please, will say your friends, that ShopAtHome is the company-cheater. You loss your money as me.
    • I SIGNIFICANTLY HOPE everyone BECOMES AWARE OF THIS COMPUTER SHAM. I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO FIND OUT THE DETAILS OF THE PROGRAM, AND SAVING MONEY AT THE GROVERY. I've CALLED Walmart, GETTING TO management AND NOONE HAS EVER HEARD OF THIS PROGRAM. I HAD, INITIALY BEEN EXCITED TO TRY IT. nOW I'm HJARDCORE GROSSED OUT. when I ASKED THE Walmart STAFF IF I COULD PURCHASE THE COUPON-PRINTER THERE, I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD BEEN INFORMED ABOUT A 'NON-THOUROUH', AND POSSIBLY DISHONEST.
  • agreed-you don't "request" checks from the-they just send them. they are good about that. they were also good about crediting your cash back quickly. but lately I find myself having to jump through hoops to get what I am owed. I hear the same thin-"you must not be following the guidelines.". well,I know I am and it's just money I'll never see. I'll be using the other reputable sites around instead of them going forward.
  • ShopAtHome is the worst cashback site I've used. Supposedly, they will send a check after 3 months of your transactions. The fact is the day before they were supposed to send me a check, they cancelled my account. I accumulated several hundreds of dollars in cashback over a few months, but they wiped everything off without even giving me a notice or explanation. Don't use them! I will file a complaint with bbb.org and strongly suggest that anyone who had the same problem do the same, so everyone knows this is a scam cashback site.

    • FYI, on bbb.org, ShopAtHome is actually listed under a different name: Belcaro Group, Inc, so that, I guess, people can't find related complaints easily. Untrustable!
  • i'm so greatful for the info. I was on swagbnk you for the honest info.ucks and doing surveys and this popped up. i wasn't sure or not to try. and after reading this There is NO WAY I would ever try it. Tha
  • Here's the thing, it's the 21st century, who in their right mind is sending out paper checks anymore? This should be your first red flag with regard to their efficiency and technological savvy. I travel 10 months out of the year. Am I supposed to fly back to bloody Nevada every time I need to pick up a check? Why don't they use PayPal or direct deposit? Their rates are quite good for Priceline, but the hassle of having to pick up a check is a deal breaker for me. And the fact that I have an internet bank makes this prospect even more preposterous as internet banks do not have branches. UGH! I have stopped using them because there are sites who will match their rates so even if I have to prove the price matching, I am still better off.

The customer service is mediocre at best. I have had some trouble getting credit for obvious purchases, but I figured that was because they owed me like $400 on the transaction. They don't like to pay when you get a really good cash back rebate. And I use a program that tracks my use of their sites, so I busted them twice for trying to say I didn't go through their site. I bet they didn't know software like that exists. LOL! Well, technology don't lie and they were forced to give me the cash.

Trust me, FatWallet and EBates are just better overall. Their rates are just not competitive on certain sites I use all the time. Otherwise, I wouldn't even bother with SopAtHome.

Again, if ShopAtHome wants more traffic, they need to join us in the 21st century with regard to payment options. Is the site run by a bunch of Baby Boomers or people from China? Because they are the only two groups I know who love to still use paper checks. Aren't they precious?
  • I've used this site for the last 2 Christmas shopping seasons. I have received checks both years. The checks come in February. I received $38 last year and $39 this year. Honestly, I don't know if I received every scent I was entitled but I received nearly $40 each year to buy the same products I was going to buy anyway so I am a happy shopper. I did send an inquiry when I first set up my account for some credits for Christmas 2014. I received a response in an hour or so giving me the credit.
  • please take me off your subscribe list! I do not want this anymore!
