YouGov.com

YouGov.com is a website that allows anyone to become a panel member for free, in order to collect real peoples’ opinions from across the nation.

YouGov conducts polls and surveys about politics, public affairs, brands, and other topics of general interest. Once you become a member, you will begin receiving invitations for surveys. For every survey you complete, you will earn points.

The points you earn can eventually be exchanged for a variety of different rewards, including T-shirts, tote bags, gift cards, movie tickets, and sometimes even cash.

Not all surveys award points upon completion, however. Some surveys simply enter you into a monthly drawing for cash prizes.

A Different Kind of Market Research

Most market research companies are contracted by major corporations in order to discover what their target market is looking for in product development, advertising, or just general wants or needs.

YouGov.com, on the other hand, has a decidedly political aspect to their market research. They claim to be a non-partisan organization, whose surveys do not represent either a Republican or Democratic view.

However, YouGov does partner with outside organizations to gather opinions from their members. These surveys are completely confidential, and though your responses will be provided to an outside organization, none of your contact information will be.

When you sign up with YouGov, though, you must provide your accurate home address for two reasons. First, they need to know where to send your prizes once they’ve been redeemed. Second, some of their political surveys are specific to a region or voting population.

YouGov Surveys and Prizes

The average survey at YouGov.com will only take about 5-7 minutes to complete, though surveys can vary in length. YouGov says their longest survey will not run longer than 20 minutes to complete.

As for their rewards and prizes, you must become a member of YouGov before you can see how many points you must accumulate in exchange for a prize. Currently, though, they are giving new members a welcome bonus of 1000 points, so hopefully it won’t be too time consuming to earn a prize.

Customer Responses, Reviews, or Complaints

Average Rating for " YouGov " is 2.12 out of 5 based on 126 reviews.
  • Payback is slow & modest, but easily done. Unlike some surveys where you spend 5 - 10 minutes on the survey, only to be told, "We're sorry, but you do not qualify for this survey," with YouGov you ALWAYS qualify.

Be honest with yourself: do you spend at least 5 - 10 minutes/day messing around on the Internet? Then you should join YouGov, where you ALWAYS get paid.

BIG PLUS: they often ask YOUR OPINION ON IMPORTANT ISSUES. YouGov polls are quoted on CNN, etc. , so you get "your two cents worth." Actually, no: when you hit 100,000 points, you get $100. That is EQUAL TO PUTTING 10,000 PENNIES IN A JAR. Keep in mind you then have to roll the pennies, label each one, go to the bank, etc. THIS IS EASIER. If you're counting every penny, DO BOTH.
  • I too was punked on my $50 amazon card, never arrived, several attempts to contact YouGov, no response from them.
  • Have twice earned 100,000 points It took me 6 months and 2 calls to get the first Amazon $100 card. The second never arrived, and after countless calls and emails, I was finally snapped at "We did mail it" then hung up. Still get surveys, but just ignore them now.

And yes, it was the YouGov site. Screw them. They are a scam.
    • I have never had that experience, And I have never had a card email. You simply get an email with a # on it that you enter on you Amazon account
    • i redeemed 100,000 points for $100 cash to my bank since they dont offer visas gift cards no longer..did this on 1/23/2019 and still no money in bank and have contacted them 3 times now w no reply..not only that but it doesnt ever show up where how many points u have or have redeemed....SCAM
  • I see regularly on TV that after every yougov survey that Theresa may is miles ahead of Jeremy corbyn as to who would make the best pm. However as soon as you state that your political leaning is towards the left, you are never asked another political question. This is not just me, I know a few people who have the same problem. Yet another way of swaying public opinion by selective results.
  • I used to get surveys from them. The questions were quite biased. Since I didn't share their bias, I guess they dropped me.
    • You have to keep hassling them!! The bastards will do everything they can to cut you off and not pay you what you're owed. I've spent 13 months getting my £50 cheque. I had to spam them over and over to get the final surveys in order to get my money. They are pain in the neck and even tried to get out of paying me because I made a mistake with my address. Some bitch on the other side of the email said ''If you do that again, you will lose your right to any more surveys and be blocked''. Pricks. I want to delete my account now.
  • I used to have surveys often, thought it was a good way to save money for Christmas. As I've approached 5000 points 600 to go the surveys have stopped, feel cheated and used.
  • After reading some of these reviews, I think some people have somehow gotten into some mirror sites, or have been hacked, but are in any case not dealing with the actual YouGov.

I've been a member in the U.S. for several years. Any time I've redeemed points, my reward arrives promptly, usually in less time than the stated likely amount of time.

It's worth reading through all the stuff you get when you sign up. I've noted that some people are looking for a reward after 5,000 points -- there are no rewards available at that level. Others have mentioned not ever seeing cash show up in their PayPal accounts -- no such reward is offered (at least not in the U.S.). 20,000 is the minimum points required to redeem any reward. Others complain that sometimes they get a number of surveys offered in a short period, and then none for some time; that's pretty standard. Often they're looking for a particular profile type, depending on the type of survey they're doing. They have never retracted any points from me and points show up immediately in my account after I take the surveys. So I think some of the troubles people have may come from not reading and understanding how the site works.

I see customer service complaints as well. The only issue I've ever had was when I installed their web-tracker and it didn't work. They responded quickly the several times I contacted them about it, though the replies were not too helpful, and I ended up deleting it (fine since I'm not crazy about the notion anyway, but tons of extra points were on offer so I gave it a try).

Another time I dealt with their customer service was after not having internet access for a number of years. Previous to that, I'd racked up some points and figured I could just kiss them goodbye after years offline. My account had been deactivated, so not much hope. But I sent an email and within a week, they reactivated my account AND gave me back the points I had accrued some four years earlier. So I have no complaints about YouGov.

Someone said they were getting spammed with dozens of surveys per DAY. Seriously, that's not YouGov. It's some shadow-scam.

Read the FAQs, use the secure (https) web address, and have some patience. You're not going to earn a living on YouGov but they are reputable, well-regarded, and spell out up front what you can expect. Any diversion from that, you should be reporting those emails as spam and maybe even phishing.

Some of the most reputable companies in the world use YouGov for market research, and so do plenty of entities looking to do social/political polling. I'm about to cash in another bulk of points and you'll certainly hear from me (as will YouGov) if my redemption does not arrive within the prescribed time -- but I fully expect that it will, as it always has in the past.

I'm a legit and longtime YouGov user. I ended up here because I googled a question about what form my reward comes in -- electronic or an actual card? I found the answer (it's a card). But I saw some of these comments and felt like it was worthwhile to share my own experiences. I hope I've been useful.
    • dini, I agree with everything you said. I've been a member for years. I wait until I get enough points to cash in for $100 and have never had any problems getting my money. I think I've done that 4 or 5 times now taking a survey once or twice a week. It takes me about a year before I accumulate that many points. I'm surprised why so many people are having problems. The last time I collected my money I had it direct deposited into my bank account and it was in my account quickly.

The surveys are quick not like some other sites where they ask you 30 minutes worth of questions. I've never taken a survey and had it say I didn't qualify. I had that happen at other survey sites. I like now at the end of most surveys you can add an addition 100 points to you survey for answering a few bonus questions.

I tell everyone I know about YouGov and how they can earn $100 a year. It's not a scam it's real and it works!
    • I am also a long-time user. My first redemption went smoothly and easily. My last one, in December 2018 has yet to be received, nor has their support team responded to my inquiry. I will try to resolve it one more time and then proceed to BBB.
    • On November 18, 2018 I had 100,000 points.

I chose to have $100 transferred to my bank account.

Sent the bank info. Never saw a deposit. Contacted YouGov several times to no avail.

Surveys have dwindled off since then.

They like you unless you try to redeem points.
    • This is my experience as well. Must have 20,000 points to get anything. All of these sites should be seen as a time passer for free time. Not make a living type of money. You must like taking surveys, or this will get very frustrating.
  • No problems for some years - was paid £100 . However on hoping to cash in my last £50 towards the end of last year, I was told that I had two accounts which was against the rules. That was news to me and I asked why they hadn't picked up on it earlier as conveniently for them , they still benefitted from my numerous surveys. No budging from them and they stopped replying to my emails. In spite of 7+ attempts at closing my account (s??) I am still plagued by invitations to their surveys. I have now emailed them again asking them to take my email address off their data base. I am not holding my breath for a reply.
  • not sure if the office address for sg stated in emails is true and updated.

i did a check online, the address belongs to FastTrack pte ltd.

I regularly get surveys, every 2 to 4 days. Still not till the payout of 5000 points yet. will update again after I try to cash out
  • THIS IS A SCAM. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME DOING THE SURVEY. YOU GET NOTHING.

I have done survey whenever there is a new one came out over 2 to 3 years and got enough point to redeem SGD$25. But after clicking the redeem button, it say will credit to my account, but never. Contacted their support, 9 days no answer and never will be.
