Ziinga.com

Ziinga.com is a penny auction website that is available to users in over 16 different countries, including Britain, Canada, and the US, and claims to give people the ability to purchase expensive items at serious discounts.

Like most penny auctions, each bid on Ziinga US raises the price of the auction by one penny and each bid resets the auction clock to a longer period of time. The auction clock will reset with shorter times as the auction lasts longer.

All Ziinga auctions start at $0.00 and have no reserve price bidders must meet. The last bidder left wins the right to purchase the item at the final auction price, plus costs of delivery.

Ziinga does have auctions set with “maximum” prices, which means that once the bidding has hit the maximum price, members continue to bid in order to be the last bidder, but these bids will not increase the final item price.

You can only win two auctions at Ziinga within a 14 day rolling period, in order to allow more members to win auctions. To start bidding at Ziinga, you must purchase bids which range from 69 cents to $1.19 depending on the size of the bid package you choose.

  • DO NOT under any circumstances use this company - at best their business practices are sharp and at worst are illegal. You will find yourself signed up for an expensive 3 month contract without realising that you have done so. I realised when they asked for a scanned copy of my passport or credit card that something was amiss - so I didn't send copies. However, they tell me that they are still going to charge me for a 3 month 'binding' contract which I have apparently and unknowingly signed up for. I shall be taking this up with trading standards.
  • I was also conned into this scam its absolutely disgusting what this company are getting away with I have been intouch with bbc watchdog to out these crimanals hope every body does the same.Im afraid to send them the cancellation fee incase they fleece my bank account
  • I've cancelled my registration after they took around 89€ from my credit card.

Since October I've been claiming the reimbursement of the fee, they are always giving excuses and I've seen so far 0,00€.

BE CAREFUL, they are really scam!!!

Does anyone knows how to present a legal process against this guys?

    Thanks,

    CD
  • Me too. A text message purporting to be from Apple sent to me on the Vodafone network in Ireland saying I won an iPhone 5 which took me via a link to the Zinga website, an auction site where apparently auctions never end. Nobody ever receives the items they "won". You pay to register, apparently and then despite cancellation they take and take and take money from your credit card.

One woman in New Zealand who complained to a television channel was sent a photo of the outside of her house in the mail, apparently the message was "WE KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE". check it out on google or on tvnz nz.

    Zinga is registered in MALTA.
  • I received an SMS purporting to be from Apple, saying that I had won an iPhone 5. There was a link for me to click on to receive my 'prize'. Instead of being able to claim my prize, I was redirected to the 'Register' page on Ziinga's site. I thought this was strange, but went ahead and registered. I was then directed to their home page, where I could see no sign of any 'prize' from Apple, although there was an iPhone 5 being auctioned. I realised that it must be a scam, but I used Ziinga's online chat to complain and they sent me an auto reply informing me that the SMS that I received was nothing to do with them (yea, right!) and that the matter had been reported to Apple. Thankfully the Spam filter on my Gmail account takes care of the emails that Ziinga sends me. The best protection from scammers is to remember that you never get something for nothing, and if it looks too good to be true, then it almost definitely is!
  • STAY AWAY I thought that this was a legitimate site having received an email from a relative, which I now find to be from a hacked account, and I bid for a £35 Amazon card. I won the auction and proceeded to make the payment; after receiveing the email from them stating that I was bound to their membership for 3months I emailed them and tried to cancel, As others have already discovered - they then want £35 cancellation fee for breach of their T&C. When I 'Chatted' with their operative I got nowhere even though I pointed out that I did not see the T&C checkbox or even remember ticking it. They still want £35. Oh and btw, it appears that the LiveChat facility is not from Ziinga itself as the operative stated that they were bound by Ziinga's T&C. I took a screenshot of the 'Chat' and to say that it's not helpful is an understatement. They nee to be prosecuted in order to make their T&C more transparent.
  • I had a like on facebook to claim a free 40 new look voucher , I am always really careful and never claim anyof these offers but something tempted me, what a fool, it claimed in order to receive this voucher I would have to fill in a short survey of 2 questions , which I did then provide my shipping address to receive my vouchers, I filled in this info for a new window to open up asking me for 2 pound to cover postage and packaging like a fool I provided this but it clearly stated that my card would only be charged the 2 pound and nothing more then another window opened up which was asking me to accept zing terms and condition so thy could send me an email showing me how to claim my voucher, so I accepted then another window opens up and it's not till this stage that there terms and conditions are available to view, at this point I feel physical y sick where I can see it is going to cost me 59.99 per month, I immediately telephoned ziiinga to cancel to be told I had to pay 35 pound to cancel , worried sick I agreed to this but they said I could only pay it via a link in my email, well I have filled in the cancellation form 3 times now but my account is still active and I have til tomorrow before they take the first 59.99 payment , I am worried sick so I have just cancelled my credit card so they can't take money but I am worried they will pursue me via debt collectors which is what the person on the other end of the phone at ziinga said they will do..........?..??
    • Oh how stupid are we I did the exact same thing I am in the process of canceling my credit card I dont know if that will work but barclay card told me if I cancel then its up to me to inform any companys that I have cancelled I hope it works
  • The biggest bunch of scamming thieving undesireables on the internet bar none, avoid avoid avoid
  • Stumbled across Zinga whilst messing about and won the i pod for £2.63, thought it all sounded a bit too good to be true, so checked terms and conditions and despite the membership fee over 3 months figured it would pay for itself given how cheap the items were.

But just to be on the safe side I googled and found this forum.....and boy am I glad I found it! I sympathize with those who have fallen for it and I agree there should be powers in place to prevent these scammers from operating and ripping off decent folk like us just trying to get a good deal......
  • Absolute Scam!! I realized as soon as I joined and they promised to refund my joining fee of $8.22. That was 3 months ago. Just now I received an invoice stating that I owe them over $200 and they are 'unable' to cancel my subscription until I pay the outstanding amount. Stay away from Ziinga, I wish I would have.
