7 Ways to Make Money Online

Welcome to part two of “7 Ways to Make Money Online”. Glad you’ve made it this far! Here is our continued list of make money online opportunities…

#5 Get Paid to Write…

Writing is one of the easiest ways to make money online; with the massive growth of the internet there’s never been more demand on the internet for writers. Websites are always in need of new content and they’re happy to pay for it. The best way to find at-home writing work is to become a member at some of the many freelance websites and forums specializing in this type of work.

Not only can you find short term work, but if you do well and impress your employer a small gig can often turn into long term or even permanent employment.

Another option is to submit your content to websites that offer revenue-sharing opportunities. They will provide you with the platform to host your writing on, and in return for your work, they’ll split any ad revenue that your articles generate.

With the revenue sharing option you get more leeway in the kind of content you can write and will earn a percentage (approx. 40-50%) of the ad revenue that your articles generate.

As a traditional freelance writer, you’ll bid on jobs and get paid a predetermined amount for a specific amount of work. Click here for our complete list of Writing Job Websites.

#6 Micro Jobs…

Many companies are outsourcing simple tasks that, for one reason or another, can’t be done by a computer. These “micro jobs” can range from specialized tasks to basic actions that a computer simply can’t handle, such as appropriately labeling photographs for example.

There are many routes that you can take with this type of work. If you have a skill set for specific tasks such as web-design then you don’t have to focus on just the basic jobs. There have been many huge design projects that have been done through the use of the micro job model.

Due to their success, there are quite a few websites that offer this type of work. Everything from answering a question to submitting a design, or to helping name a new product or website.

You can make money selling simple everyday photos. You don’t have to be an artist or an expert photographer to make this work. People need stock photos for their blogs, websites, presentations, and much more. Often times it’s the most basic things that they’re looking for. When someone purchases your photo you get paid a commission, it’s as simple as that.

Here’s a list of sites where you can get started: Fotolia.com, ShutterStock, and iStockphoto.

  • Are there any legitimate website to work from home in Australia or is this only for the USA?

I checked out some of the links, they required that you are USA citizens.
  • Raquel,

Do you have any suggestions for me as well. I am struggling to make ends meet and this would be a blessing for me. Could you please email me at [email protected]. thank you

    • Kathy I know what your going through I have come to the conclusion that 99% seem to be scams. If you want to make good money put your second language to use working in the court system. I don't know what state you live in but most county court houses need interpreters and they get paid very well for it and most the time only 15 to 20 hrs a week.
  • I'm so happy that I read this hefore I paid the $97.00. I'm very thankful for reviewopedia.com. Thank you for saving me from spending money that I really did not have.
  • I have been researching work at home opportunities for a few years now, and this site is very helpful. I had never heard of reviewopedia.com before, but it will be in my favorites now.
  • I found this information very interesting and informative. I often wondered about this and it's certainly filled in gaps for my understanding. I'm definitely going to pursue at least one of these avenues.
  • Thank you for the information, very informative. I might add that if u shop online very often, shopathome.com is an excellent source of income. Daily, I shop online, but before I go to the website I need, I go to shopathome to see if there is any cash back incintives. Its like a monthly check I can put in savings. I'm getting paid just for buying things I have to buy anyway. The checks come in handy. Twenty dollars in savings must be accrued before u are cut a check, but the smallest check I have received was 22.00 and largest being 109.00. Just an idea, thought I'd share.
  • Great Article! These are all great ways to earn money from home. I have been working from home for about 6 years now. I started after my child was born. The interesting thing is, when I started looking for work from home, i just used the same process of applying for work (in person). Since then I have worked for many different companies and industries all from the comfort of my own home. The takeaways? Identify what you like to do or are good at, what is your availability? What industries are looking for telecommute emnployees? I have tried so many different things and have failed and succeeded at the same time but im glad to share more. It is possible to obtain work from home, without being scammed.
    • Really? Please do share. It looks like you posted this in 2019, so I realize you may not be available to even read my reply, but if you are, I would appreciate it. I am currently working in the legal field and have been for 25 years. I am very computer savvy and intelligent and have experience in transcription, legal and administrative work, but I would like to work from home instead of going into an office each day. Any legitimate suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    • Hi Raquel,

I am looking for something for either myself or my daughter, who is expecting her first child in September. Working from home would be ideal. I have years of experience in customer service, insurance, and things of that nature. I am willing to do data entry, or anything that doesn't require that I be signed on at a specific time. My daughter is pretty low on experience, but, but could do data entry, or simple customer service. Do you know where we might start to look? Please email me at [email protected]

I am also looking for an online legitimate job. Someplace that has medical benefits and regular pay checks. I am good with people and have worked customer service for many years. • Dear Raquel,

Im starting now trying to find some extra cash online. And i know i have a lot of research to do in front of me but i am quite lost where to start from - paid surveys? data entry? i don't know.... can you give me any direction? Thats a million! :))
  • Yes thank you for the information. I too signed with a company that said I could make money just doing what I do everyday, HA I paid to have a better package HA, I didn't make a penny after 6 months. And I paid monthly fee to them. I cancelled and they kept taking money well it took a few months of calling and texting at first they said no refund, because I didn't cancel. I did cancel but they made it very confusing and tricky, can you imagine. I kept asking for my money back and finally I got it. The thing is if you take the NO from them and don't persist they win. You have to be persistent. I'm so sorry I didn't see this site before. It could have saved my time and money. Once you sign up you also get so much junk emails and spam. I'm cleaning up and starting over. Again, thank you for all information.
  • I found this to be very informative and helpful. My only concern is which if any of these income opportunities count as taxable income? I am only 27 years old and have been struggling with a lot of health issues that make it to where I'm unable to hold a job due to the ups and downs and inability to verify I can work any set day. My health is a day to day basis whether I feel well enough to do anything. Some days I can't get out of bed. Some days I can but not enough to go anywhere. And on a lucky day I feel like a normal human being. That being said, I'm fighting for disability income and if I do anything that's taxable I can't get any benefits from them. It doesn't matter what it is. But if I don't try to do something productive it makes me go insane. So to sum it up, if I do any of these opportunities will it count as income to the government where I need to report it?
    • Even when on disability you are allowed to bring in some income. The best way to find out is to talk to the caseworker assigned to you. For example I'm allowed to earn up to $1000 in additional income. If I go over that let's say by $100 then my disability payment is decreased by $100. I deal with a similar situation most days just taking care of my daughter and running our home takes all my energy. I've never even come close to the $1000 in taxable income. Another way I make money that falls in the in taxable category is selling items on Facebook or Craigslist. Stuff we aren't using anymore or watch for garage sales or estate sales buy cheap and raise the price....you won't get rich but every little bit helps.
    • AshleyK, I am in your exact situation, except that I have already qualified for disability (through the use of a non-attorney representative company, Allsup). Anyway, I personally have always been of the mindset that all earnings made should be above-board and not under-the-table. A good conscience is worth more than not having to pay taxes. If you do ultimately get approved for disability you can still earn legitimate income, as long as it is below a certain threshold. But I would wait to do this until you are approved. If you are not going to continuing pursuing disability, there are ways to earn income. I get chronic migraines, so I also am unsure how I will feel from one day to another. I did at one point sell craft supplies on Etsy and my shop was quite successful. I also had several shops selling handmade items. By doing this you can better control your schedule. You might also try being a Virtual Assistant (try Elance) and just quote on those jobs that aren't as time sensitive. Or you could try pet sitting, just making sure you have a backup for those times you would be unable to make it to the homes. Just a few thoughts. Hang in there, things will work out if you approach it in an honest way (not to say you are not currently doing things that way).
    • Sorry, I should have said this applies to survey companies, you may find yourself making more with other companies. Then the 1099 would state the income you would have to include on your taxes.
    • AFAIK, companies generally consider you an "independent contractor" and are required to send you a 1099 if you make more than 600$. This form is also sent to the IRS. The chances of you making more than 600$ with any one company are slim, so don't worry about it.
