7 Ways to Make Money Online

It’s estimated that for every one legitimate online opportunity there are roughly sixty scams. The reason is that quite a few people seem to believe that there’s a magic package out there which allows one to make a lot of money on the internet with very little effort, and there’s always a less than reputable website willing to sell it to them.

To be perfectly honest there are many different ways to make money online, and working from home can be extremely rewarding. But there’s a big difference between a legitimate online job or opportunity and the unsolicited offers that often find their way into your inbox.

This is why we’ve put together a list of real ways to make money from home. These are all legitimate companies and methods which allow you to start getting paid for a wide range of activities with little or no investment on your part.

Feel free to explore the ideas on this page, join the discussions & leave your response below, or suggest an idea we haven’t thought of yet…

#1 Get an Online Job…

If you want to earn income at home then you may think the most obvious solution is to get a work-at-home job. Well you’re right! Unfortunately many internet scams specifically target people searching to work at home. To avoid falling for any kind of schemes the best thing you can do is go directly to the source. Find forums or job boards that focus on the kind of work you want to do. For instance there are many legit jobs in the customer service industry.

You can get a job as a customer service representative and earn money by fielding customer’s questions and providing them with support. This type of work will require some brief training and the ability to pass a background check.

If you’re the creative type, you can find work at home opportunities in almost any industry. If you have technical skills such as programming or graphic design, then the door is really wide open. In addition to full time work at home jobs there are a plethora of freelance jobs.

Check out our lists of legitimate work at home jobs below:

#2 Make Money Taking Surveys…

Surveys often get a bad reputation online because many people are confusing legitimate survey companies with other fraudulent online offers. The most important thing you need to look for in an online survey site is that it’s associated with a real market-research company.

There are many false “survey” websites out there that attempt to charge money for survey opportunities, but participation in real market research should always cost you nothing.

In addition, many fraudulent websites claim extraordinary earnings from taking surveys, which is not how real survey companies operate. You should have reasonable expectations and understand that you’re not going to make a full-time income taking surveys.

Big-name brands pay research companies to get their members to take various surveys. Often times they’re looking for very specific demographics which means you may not qualify. The best way around this is to be honest in your profile and sign up with several websites to increase your chances of qualifying.

#3 Get Paid to Browse the Net…

With more and more retail and advertising dollars being spent online studying people’s browsing habits has become huge business. Insights into online behavior are worth thousands, if not millions, of dollars to large companies who do business online.

This is why there’s been a significant rise in research firms that study how and why people do certain things online. In order to get this data they’ve developed websites that reward people with gifts and prizes for contributing to their statistics.

One of the most reputable companies offering this opportunity is www.SwagBucks.com. They’ll pay you for doing things online such as browsing, shopping, or even playing games. Any info they collect is anonymous and unidentifiable so your privacy is protected.

Working with Swagbucks will certainly not replace your dayjob, but why not get a little something extra for doing many of the things that you’re already doing anyways?

#4 Make Money With Your Own Website…

If you’re looking to work hard, be your own boss, and create a full-time income for yourself then making money with your own website is the route you’re looking to take. With a website you open yourself up to a variety of income sources, primarily making money through advertising networks such as AdSense or affiliate marketing.

You no longer need to be a computer or programming expert to make money with a website. Services such as blogger and wordpress allow you to quickly create your own website and even host it for free. Keep in mind that you will not make money on your first day, or likely your first month.

Making money with a website is a lot like starting your own business. It can be a lot of work and you often don’t reap the benefits till much later down the line. However, if you’re willing to work hard, have an idea or vision, and have a passion for self-employment then there’s nothing stopping you from succeeding.

Many people get intimidated just by the thought of creating their own website, which is why it’s crucial to get the proper training and support when you’re starting out. We recommend checking out Wealthy Affiliate, an easy to follow resource that’ll show you how to do everything from creating your site to earning your first dollar online. Get Started Now!

  • To be clear - There is a difference between a "Work from Home JOB" and a Business you can build. One gives you a W2 and the other doesn't. Freelancers often work on 1099's. (United States tax system). Make sure you know what you are signing up for.

You can find a Remote JOB on a job site like Indeed, Monster, or temp agencies where you work as a Contractor, like Adecco or Robert Half. Make sure you know what you are looking at .. Most Jobs pay you by the hour, or transaction, have benefits, etc.

Don't scream Scam because you thought you were getting a job when you signed up for something that was a business opportunity. In ANY business opportunity, there is no guarantee of income! Not even if you open a restaurant or a convenience store.

Businesses depend on You - your actions - your productivity. Not all business opportunities will be a good fit for you.

Understand what is drawing you to an offer.. Everything takes effort -- in your job, if you don't put in the effort, you get fired. In a business, you lose money. That's how it works.
  • Hello Brothers,

This is Eric, a new guy wanting to use my time to work from home. I need any suitable job that can be worked from home. Any help?
  • I would also like to do surveys for you online. I could not load your webpage to apply
  • Hello Lesha Money, great you’ve found a worthwhile company to work for. I am continually researching to find a legit company as know there are many scams. Would you be able to provide details of the company you work for?
  • I am really looking for something that can help me make more money and better my life style. I hope and believe this is my solution.
  • I work from home and have been for the past two years with an anti-aging hair and skin care company. It’s the best investment I have ever made to be honest.
    • Hello can you tell me the name of the anti aging skin care company you work for
    • how much was initial startup and what company
    • Dear Lesha, I would appreciate hearing the name of the company as I may well be interested in working for them if positions are available in the UK. I would welcome trying out the products myself as I am getting older ! Any help appreciated and I wish you continued success in your business. Best wishes.
    • Hi Leesha. May I ask what the name of the company is that your working for. I’ve been searching for years for a legitimate work from home job.
    • LEESHA, CAN YOU DIRECT ME TO THIS COMPANY, I HAVE BEEN SCAMMED SO MANY TIMES. ANTI AGING IS SOMETHING I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT. ARE YOU STILL WORKING WITH THEM AND IN WHAT CAPACITY?
    • can I ask what company and do they have more work from home opportunities?
  • Yes, I’ve found Arise is very reputable!!! They have work from home jobs in like Customer Service or Sales at very reputable companies. You need to work w a IBO that works with Arise. I signed up with Davis Professionals LLC. They handle your paycheck and Human Resources stuff. Davis will repay you for the cost of the training.
    • Thanks for the name of the IBO. I agree that Arise is legit. Its Corporate Office is located a few blocks from me. I registered with them but the assignment was listed as one month for training, and after the first week they changed it to 3 months, and earn to learn when the second month started. This was very inconvenient. Also the instructor was not very helpful. She was not very helpful. This was the second time that I experienced instuctors that was not helpful with Arise. My IBO was not very informed. I had to keep contacting them for Information that other people in the class already had. I will give them a chance again in the near future.
  • I have been scammed by blazing trader. They ask me to register and get started with 250$, people all over the world started calling and said that is I wanted to earn I have to pay $5,000 USD and as his partner, they would also put half of my payment to make it $10,000 USD. But I tod them that if you are legit, you should help me increase my USD 250.00 and when it grows, i will use that money to invest more. And they don't help me and now I could not even enter their website... :(
    • Sorry to hear that Lyvia. I've been scammed myself a few times. Mostly "trading" companies. One of them is called " Paxton Trades PTY Ltd". Based in Australia. Checked ASIC and they are registered. Have ACN number, which tells me that they are legit. Later they gone dark. Paxton trades. come, error 404, when trying to visit the website
  • I don't know how to get started but

I am going to be one who is going to succeed in making my living on the internet because I have seen the light and the internet is where the money is if you know what you are doing and I plan to learn what to do and how .
    • Everyone that is attempting to find a "stay at home job" should let everyone know when they have a negative/positive experience so that others won't/will apply for that position--We can work as a team by helping one another. Furthermore, I'm not looking for a job that I have to pay for. If they are legit they should be paying me. Please share your experiences.
    • Just curious if you were able to accomplish what you intended as you said in your email? If so, are you willing to share your success?
  • I see a lot of review sites after giving a review say to go to Wealthy Affiliates.

They give y two free websites to use and training as how to do online marketing.

It must be profitable because so many are promoting it. So the promoters are getting commissions from y when y upgrade. I guess the demand is so hi for people to do something legit on line they will upgrade and give that a try.

And if that is as good as t gets then the whole online thing sucks!
    • I have been with WA for over 1 YEAR! even upgraded to premium. I will tell you this. THEY ARE NO SCAM!!! The people within it are legitimate ordinary people from all over the world who are looking for ways to make money online. MANY PEOPLE from ALL walks of life! Many of them have been "burned" by scams themselves before they joined Wealthy Affiliate. Their platform offers things no other platform does AND they are a COMMUNITY! :) A community that looks out for one another, ESPECIALLY it's new members. I left it because of life-happens situations but have and STILL HIGHLY recommend it for ANYONE looking to make a serious income.
    • I have learned that the hard way ; No consumer protection on the web !
