Davison Inventions

Davison Inventions (www.InventionConcept.com) is a company that claims to take people’s ideas of new inventions, and turn them into reality. Davison says that it will take your idea through all the steps necessary to get your invention onto the market, from research and development to licensing to getting it onto the shelves.

Davison’s website claims that you have the ability to submit your idea to them knowing that you have full confidentiality and protection.  Once your idea is submitted, you will receive a one on one consultation about the viability of your idea, and whether or not you should begin the process to take your idea further.

Davison claims to have a variety of agreements available for potential clients.  Some services they offer will require you to pay one time, up front fees, while others will require you to commit to an agreement where Davison receives a percentage of royalties from your invention.

From Dream to Reality

“Build a better mousetrap, and the world will beat a path to your door.” From the time that man created fire, there has been an innate desire to come up with better ways of doing things. If you take a minute to look around you, at the things we take for granted every day, you’ll see the evidence of people’s invention dreams that came to life.

But, unlike the picture painted in Hollywood films, most of these inventions weren’t created in someone’s basement and then magically appeared on the market. Inventions must go through an intense process of research and development – is it truly an original invention? Is there someone else out there with a comparable idea or existing product? Is this invention already in the works?

At times an idea must be patented, which can be an expensive and complicated process. After that, an invention must often be licensed to another company or corporation to produce and distribute, because individuals usually lack the money necessary to fund the actual supply of product needed for the market.

Davison Inventions claims to help you through this long, arduous process, and to get your invention on the shelves of major retailers like Target, WalMart, Home Depot, and others.

Davison Inventions Success Stories?

Well, the truth is that when you research Davison Inventions, you are going to hear much more about heartbreak and failure than you will about success stories.  In fact, Davison was ordered to pay $26 million in restitution to former clients after they were sued by the Federal Trade Commission and lost.

The lawsuit determined that clients of Davison would often pay upwards of $10,000 toward costs and services, and that less than 1% of their clients ever saw a return higher than what they invested with Davison.

In addition, they were told to stop promoting themselves as being linked to major retailers. However, if you look at their current website it seems fairly obvious that they are walking a fine line in adhering to this court order.

Their landing page is covered in logos from major retailers, with information offering that inventions processed through Davison are sold at all of these stores. While there is no official statement saying they have a relationship with these companies, the implication is still there.

Finally, the lawsuit ordered that Davison refrain from acting as though their services are selective, since they were found to take anyone’s idea through the research and development process as long as they paid the fees. This is a bad sign for those looking to process an invention, because it means that you can’t trust Davison’s evaluation of your invention’s potential.  If they are simply willing to take everyone’s money who comes to them, it’s easy to see how 99+% of their customers never saw a profit from their dealings with Davison.

  • I'm like the rest of you guys. Is this a good company to work with? How many inventors really gotten royalty from their idea?
    • Don't do it. Their prototypes are poorly conceived and poorly made and you will NOT be given the opportunity to change or adapt it in any way. You will be stuck with what they make.
  • Yup! I actually submitted my invention to them. They called me right away saying that my idea was great and if I wanted to pursue it. Of course I do, I told them. So now they mention how much my invention was going to cost me. $795 to have my invention researched, $8,000 - $15,000 to have a prototype built and $6,000 for software and packaging. Really. I work in the manufacturing industry and there is no way a prototype of this nature will cost that much to make. More like $500. Software-for what? Packaging-Come on, you have that information already saved to your computer. All you will do is just change some info and save it. I am glad that the internet was created so us little people have somewhere we can go to check out scams like this before we fall victim and spend our hard earned money (which they have received nothing from me). So please, we have all came up with some good/bad ideas, is there nowhere we can go to have these checked out and actually profit from them without being misled or out-right taken advantage of?
  • Davison sucks
  • For people worried about their idea taken away or their dream invention being "crushed", DONT worry. They cannot use your idea for themselves without your permission and even if they do, you have a right to sue them...
    • How So Sammy if you have not signed anything with them. i only sent in the submission request for more info and gave a description of my product idea. i have only toldmy mother and my husband about the idea and the people at davison and invest sai. so if i saw my product out there somewhere what couldi do about it legally?
  • I felt I was scammed!!! I want my money back!!! I'm sure the people that have written about Davison feel the same way. Any one else feel the same way???? lets chat.
  • I have been dealing with Davison for approximately 3 years. The first initial payment was 750 dollars which I thought was all that was asked of me. Then, I was told I needed to pay another 1000 dollars to get into stage 2. I continually sent more money until I was finally at the point of stage 3 I believe. I had some financial hardships in the past year so my project was put on hold. I was constantly getting phone calls from Davison asking me for more money to get my protocol going. I came into some money after selling a property that was not alot, but a lot to me and after being called so many times from Davison telling me I had a winning invention that was a sure deal I decided to give them a final payment of approximately 8000 dollars to get my protocol made from the diagram they had sent me 2 years ago. After receivng my money (everything I had), I was sent a picture to sign and approve of a diagram that looked nothing like the agreed on diagram I was sent. I told Davison that this protocol picture looked nothing at all like my idea and had none of the unique functions I had come up with. Needless to say, I have called Davison several times to discuss this matter and to fix it to be like the original draft they sent me, they have not returned any of my phone calls. Please if you are thinking about going with this company, DON"T! I have lost my dream of a great invention, as well as my financial stability.
    • "$165.00 U.S. dollars per hour plus expenses.

      $15,170.00 U.S. dollars

$13,170.00 U.S. dollars and a 5% royalty assigned to Davison.

$11,170.00 U.S. dollars and a 10% royalty assigned to Davison."

This was sent and discussed with my "invention" and to make the legal agreement with my signature. Have already put money in to work Davison but wasn't sure about putting any more...saw there was a legal action. This needs to be done to let others know about the "firm" to make presentations to so-called companies. Was going to pay a lawyer to look at this agreement before anymore to them...the lawsuit will be the next step.
    • Stephanie - can you supply a general email box of some type to send my contact info to so that i don't have to put my email on this public forum? I too got taken for several hundred dollars only to now be told I need to find several thousand more to keep things rolling...which I was never advised of up front. If a class action lawsuit is pulled together I would be interested in participating. ~DK
    • My husband and I are wanting to file a class action law suit against these people and hopefully get them shut down for good! Just need more people to make it a class action lawsuit...if you want to be a part of it let me know...I will be finding a lawyer here soon...thank you!
    • I will keep you up dated on how things are going so far it doesnt look good it only took me like 5 calls for mr issaco to call me back before they had my money they called me all the time and now that they have my money its very hard to get in touch with them so if any one uot there is thinking of going with davison company please be where aim not having anything good to say about this company sofar i will keep you up dated if anything good happends
    • Your story is almost exact to my story, Davison or Ralph is who i spoke to all the time, he called and called and told me great things about the company. I paid and was sent a bunch of crap in a box about the company, I was supposed to get the patent research done with the money i spent, all the while being told how my idea was going to soon be in the prototype phase. Then I get an email saying i need to pay thousands of dollars to move forward. I was never told this part of the scam...thus i was scammed. There is so much more to the story but I'm just getting mad thinking of it, I'm so discouraged i haven't called back in over 6 months. I want my money back!!!
  • Wow, I had no idea.... i submitted my idea on their website and now my phone is ringing all day! I have no idea how to build a prototype.. any suggestions? (other than Shark Tank... lol)
  • i am curently dealing with Davison on my idea and all i can say is that this company is the best on the invention business ./ recommended ...
    • Keep us posted on your product. Get any royalty payments yet? Have a product on the market yet?

      Please let us all know.
    • Do you have your prototype and packaging yet? Do you like your prototype? Was it what you asked for, and if not, did they allow you to change it, tweak it, have them make it the way YOU want it? Or are you still in the beginning stages of your work with Davison?
    • Don't do it... I was motivated by a fast talking used car sale man type person. Funny thing is though, I didn't think my idea was a brilliant idea. Now I'm out of the money I spent with NOTHING!! but a box of crap that show cases the company. I was supposed to have my product patent researched and have it in prototype phase, and!! have it in front of manufactures to produce the product. It was all BS!!! didn't happen, WHY?? because I got an email saying I needed to pay in the high thousands to move forward. I was never told that, wait wait...I'm sorry I was told that but it was done very cleverly through a conversation, meaning they would ask me: wouldn't you like to see your product get into the stores to be sold,,, me: why yes doesn't everyone! and that's where they get your tacit approval to send you the next bill. that was all being recorded, I know that because the person whom I had been working with read our conversations back to me!!! MFker I got scammed, I want my money back!!!
    • having read comments posted on Davison so far, I am in a dilemma. Can you share your experience with me? I have already paid for the pre design research but am hesitant to invest further because of the negative reports here.
  • Wow thanks everyone for the posts! I guess I got too caught up in the whole "paid surveys" scam and got spammed left and right by everything, including these guys. And like many of you described, I got a phone call (which I thankfully didn't pick up on), got their voicemail with a guy YELLING that they want me to call back (with no "thank you"s or "have a nice day" or any common courtesy), and then I saw the email they also sent me.

I am sure as heck not going to reply in any way. Thanks again!
  • Im in shock as i am awaiting a phone call from a patrick bell from davison as well. i will not be answering until i have checked this out so i can word myself correctly thank you
