  • Boy, where do I begin!! It has been 2 1/2 weeks since I was able to view and save files from my online account, or back up anything from my computer. Their system thinks my account has expired, when in fact it is active. I send an email to find out what is going on, sometimes I hear back, sometimes I don't, and I did upgrade to priority support service. The last time I heard from someone they said that since upgrading their software, they have had this issue, and to be patient. The only good thing for the moment is that I can access all my files from their server, and download to my computer through restore if I need to. I am very close to just buying an external hard drive. Anyone else having problems with it saying "your account has expired upgrade now" when you try and click on a file in your dashboard account?
  • I'm having a miserable time trying to complete my initial back-up. The program continually stops. It is extremely slow registering which files have been backed-up already, before continuing the back-up process. It has to go thru this routine constantly because the program repeatedly stops with very little progress. A large red box with a red "x" appears over the download window.

I sent an email to customer support 4 days ago. No reply. No live support. Theres an option to pay for an upgrade that promises you move to the "head of the que" in having your questions answered, with 24x7 suppport. There is a picture of a headphone with a microphone, as if you will be able to speak to a live person, but no guarantee of this, just the option of making the upgrade purchase. I don't trust the company anymore to risk throwing good money after bad.

I previously purchased an upgrade of speed thinking this might help. Problem remains. I can't get the customer support icon to open-up email correspondence any more. I've tried removing and reloading the myPCbackup software. No success in solving the problem. Can't reach customer support. What a waste of time and money. I feel cheated by a service that promises ease of use and "great customer support". I chose myPCbackup after checking reviews. They advertise the ability to back-up external hard drives.

Twelve days into this I've backed-up 150 gigs of 240 gigs that I need to back-up. I'm having no success passing this point. Even in folders that show as backed-up, there are individual files missing. I was with Mozyhome with no problems until they decided to "bait and switch", going from unlimited back-ups to prohibitively expensive alternative plans that are required if you have the amount of family photos and other data that I have. Does anyone have any experience with solving these issues, or the name of a reputable competitor service ?

I'm going to have to dispute the charge on my credit card because I can't even reach mypcbackup customer servive to cancel and get a refund. Don't waste your time and money with this rip-off company.
  • Can someone tell us how to cancel? We have been charged way more than what was quoted on the site. There doesn't seem to be anyone to contact. Need help please!!!! Thanks.
    • Just cancelled mine after going round and round with customer support, try this hidden link:

      TO CANCEL YOUR ACCOUNT:

Please go to account.mypcbackup.com/cancel and follow the simple process.

It will only take clicking thru screens offering a 20% discount on renewal, a 50% discount on renewal, then one imploring you to stay till the end of the term before finally hitting a screen that says process complete. then email to customer support stating you have done so. If there is a issue in getting the actual refund, I'll post issues here.
    • I can't even find an email address to cancel with!
    • I looked all over the site, for a cancellation button, and got pretty pissed when not finding any.

I emailed them, got an answer in couple mins. And i got a refund.

The link i got was account.mypcbackup.com/cancel

I hardly got to use the service, i didnt even finish my initial backup. I got real crappy internet. So i cant really give it a rating.

But they had great customer service.
  • What a scam. I signed onto the service because they promote Free Trial for 14 days, Storage Space Unlimited.

That is not the case. I started doing a full backup, while fully intending to purchase the service at the 14 day mark, provided I was satisfied with the service. Well, after some rediculously low storage limit, like 10 megabytes, the backup stopped, and I was told the maximum Free Trial storage limit had been reached, and that I needed to purchase for more space.

Unlimited storage space free trial. Yeah, right. It is just a way to get someone signed on. Along with the nagging emails and nagging popup window telling me to backup my files, I just deleted my account and uninstalled the software.
  • Out right lie nothing is free
  • I made the unfortunate mistake of subscribing to this service. Not only do they NOT respond in the 24 hour period for technical support but they outright lie about what you are buying in the first place.

After reading several reviews about what the service provides I decided to try it out. At the time I was using my laptop which holds very little information that I need to store. MyPCBackup site says you can store and share from more than one PC etc. etc. So I sign up and upload what little I had on my laptop. I figured I would upload my desktop the next day.

Well, the next day I go in to do just that and low and behold I get the message from them stating that there is an additional cost for another PC. What?!?!? No where in the initial signup does it state that.

At this point I thought I would just transfer everything over to my desktop. I sent them an Email. Got no answer. Site says 24 hours. I wait...wait...wait. No answer. I email them again. No answer. I tried phoning them....NO ANSWER. A week goes by.

I finally get an email reply saying that they could transfer it over but need the name of my desktop to do so. I am sick of this. I cannot trust all my information on a company that outright lies about what you are getting and then has no customer service whatsoever.

My information is precious to me and vital to my business. I have 91 gigs to store (about 10 years worth) which is WHY I chose to use this service in the first place.

Perhaps someone can suggest a much more REPUTABLE company that I could trust.

    • I got a so called "virtual operator" when I was signing up for the 14 day trial. After choosing a 35% discount, she offered a 50% discount.

I asked what that total would be and she just kept repeating the offer, and said she didn't understand my question. She suggested for me to call an 702 area code. When I asked where that was in the country or world, again she typed that she didn't understand the question. I just wanted to know what it would cost me to call. No e-mail address was offered, and she couldn'tcomprehend my asking for a supervisor.

I called my hometown operator and found that the number was in Las Vegas, Nevada.

I would like to know about another company also. I have heard of Carbonite.
