Online Career Journal

The Online Career Journal is a fake news website template used to promote a host of make money online opportunities. This site uses many deceptive tricks and sales tactics to convince unsuspecting customers to click through and purchase their recommended programs.

For starters the site is designed to mimic a real online news site like CNN or MSNBC, however if you actually take the time to explore it you’ll quickly realize that it’s nothing more than a one page advertorial.

There are no news stories, none of the links in the navigation work, and the “comments” section is completely fabricated. On top of that they use an IP reading script to customize the title of the article to fit your geographic location.

This is a very effective sales technique as the article profiles a young woman who’s making a fortune using their work at home kit. This sense of familiarity helps people believe that if someone from their town is doing it then they can too.

This template is very effective and for that reason it’s constantly being recycled and only slightly altered. In this case the title of the site is the online career journal found at www.careeronline.biz, but there are hundreds of different variation floating around under different names and urls.

So who is Melissa Johnson?

Again this is another fabrication that these marketers have come up with. Her story is not real and the name used changes just as often as the site itself. Melissa Johnson is not a real person and you should not fall for her “success” story.

The danger with these fake news sites is that they are constantly changing and promoting various dubious offers. They’re so easy to put together that it makes no sense for the owners to keep them around longer then they need to.

In this case the Online Career Journal is promoting some program called Online Home Careers. You can rest assured that as soon as this one stops making them money or generates enough bad press they’ll simply move on to the next hot get rich quick scheme.

The best thing that you can do to protect yourself is to stay away any product that is promoted through these deceptive measures. If the product was legitimate and produced honest results then they wouldn’t have to go through all the tricks to sell it.

  • I must say thank you for this information. You have saved me from losing money and time. I just signed in to this website but everything seemed to be too good to be true. When you click on the comments it takes you back to the original page. that is when I found this website and now it all makes sense. Indeed it is a scam. thank you for raising our awareness on this.
  • How do I get started
  • I was just putting my name and my email address on their website when I decided to check out the website before. Thank God I found this website before completing it, I guess money and greed gets the best of us.
  • A little something for those that have been caught by these scammers if you want to check out a web page take the web address back to the first /

I took this to the first an second / and all you get are blank screens

    http://www.careerjournalonline.com/

    http://www.careerjournalonline.com/newsupdate/

This is a good way to check out an online organisation before you commit yourself or give any if your details away. I learnt this little tip in a university course I did over summer.

You can't go by testimonials anybody can type them you really don't know if they are even real people who wrote them.

Yes I figured they were a SCAM. this site is great form informing others.
    • Hi there!!

I just did the same... pulled back to http://www.careerjournalonline.com/ and you're exactly correct...blank page!!

      Thanks for sharing!!
  • These scams have been around for as long as internet has been around. They just use slightly different tactics now such as adding seemingly real Facebook comments. People these days really pay attention to reviews and comments and look to them to make their decisions.

You CAN make money online, I have made a little before, but you don't really make that much for the amount of effort you put in. You'd be better off working a minimum wage job or even just mowing lawns and doing yard work.
  • All the comments on the page i looked at linked to facebook pages of people not related to the names in the comments.
  • Without prejudice? I followed this single page tabloid for nearly 4 years from my first encounter in late 90's. the tabloid has gone by several names and two Melissa's who has never aged. I would be more interested in the whereabouts of the 'Fountain of youth' she seems to have found. If its to good to be true then it bound to turn out crap see it in their disclaimers. Remember no employment office would finance any un-employed to do this sort of work because they know as with the gambling sites its crap. Personally I would not touch any of them. Always research and READ the small print it could save you heartbreak costly failure. As for online gambling just look at the stories on the internet. type on search engine Man looses house family car and stole money to gamble then read the messages. If it was that easy to WIN why would they offer large bonuses to sign up?
  • The "fine print" on the bottom of the web page basically says that everything is a fabrication... a lie.
  • i feel for you if you fell for this site. From clicking onto "career journal"to writing this reveiw has taken me less than 10 mins. If you fell for this one then you dont stand a chance with well-forged one. even some legitimate sites try it on with stuff that you do not need. I am not sure but i do have a feeling that one can set ones mouse so it takes 2 clicks to verify anything (worth a look). i would class car/joural as "smarmy",what you should do is go back to it now that you know what it is and read and reread it. if somebody started talking to you like that and telling you good-luck stories until they came out of your ears would you walk away? I think so. just clicking a link to read even minor info. could leave you in trouble. your Firefox or google or hoever you use have settings which will advise you of what to and wot-not. good luck (you will need it)
  • Will they ever be able to get my bank details and steal money from our acct.? :(
    • I stupidly fell for this and signed up. I have just called my bank to cancel my card and they have noticed that a company I have never heard of have taken £127 out from my a/c. I'm a single mum on benefits and can't afford it. I feel like an idiot, I usually warn people about this too.
