  • Wow! What a scam! I too was asked to request a free credit report.

    Hello,

I apologize for not responding to you earlier, I have been extremely busy the last few days!

The good news is that the rental is still available! We had a tentative agreement from the first person we showed it to, but now it seems that they changed their mind, so we need to lease it as soon as possible. You were the second one to email me about it, so its only fair to give you the first shot.

We know you will want to do a walk through of the property, but my husband doesn't want me to advertise the address as a measure of safety. Last time we did that without verifying people, the empty property was broken into and vandalized. We don't want that to happen again! You will be responsible for cable, internet, and phone, if you decide to have these services. Just to confirm, we DO allow pets at this property.

The rental term is 12-month lease, but can be switched into a 6-month lease if preferred. We just ask that you give us fair notice if you are moving out.

If you would like to set up an appointment, go to the link below and request the free copy of your rental report. We use this site for all the properties we manage. Just fill out the form and indicate that you want the free report. The actual scores aren't important to us, it's more of a formality to have it on file, to make sure there are no previous proerty related issues.

Get your report here: FULL REPORT

Remember, we only need to see the page about the rental history. That will be all you will need to bring with you to the showing.

As far as getting together to see the property goes, I am available to show it any time from 10:00 am on, for the next few days. Let me know once you have it printed out, and we will set up a time to do your walk-through.

Thank you once again for your interest!

    • I have this exact email response, word for word. These people suck! I'm sick and tired of looking for rentals and running into these scams!
  • I got the email from joan wells too. I didn't apply for the credit reports I just put in a fake credit score on the experthires blank & submitted it.
  • I had applied for a job through a website and also got an email from "Joan Wells" through expert hire.com. Well they linked me to profinity which I believe is a scam. Said I would need a credit score and a confirmation number to bring to the interview HR person. Please do not give them your personal details.
  • Looking for a house to rent and received an email containing this link. It looked suspicious, so my daughter clicked it on her iPod instead, in case of viruses. She googled Profinity and the second suggestion was "profinity credit scam." I also have contacted another rental and received an exact duplicate of the first email. This is the email I received:

The listing was this: " $1500 / 2br - Availalble immediately! 2+ BEDROOM VICTORIAN FLAT- GOLD COAST AREA (alameda),"

Be careful, apparently this is a pretty large-scale scam.
  • Yes this is definitely a scam. I was refereed to this site by a potential "employer" on craigslist. They basically wanted me to get a credit check done before they interviewed me. The major problem that I had was putting down all of that personal info onto a website that id never heard of, especially before I even had an interview or talked to anyone in person. The most bogus thing about it was that the "employer" stated that they would automatically recieve a confirmation from the website when my credit check was complete! Yeah, thats when I had to call their bluff, I wouldn't trust this hiring process to save my life haha.
  • Scam!!! Usually sites like creditreport.com are secured by such Security oriented companies as Norton Secured, VeriSign, and/or McAfee Secure. The testing information for security of the site should be provided as well. This site doesn't have anything except https and the image of the supposedly secure Lock.
  • They called me on my cell phone told me to go to c computer asap. I went through their steps out of interest not that i was going to subscribe, and when I said the information on the screen was inaccurate about me it was some guy in Texas and not me a girl in NY they said that is ok just enter your information. I refused and when I said do not call me again they did and I called the AG office and filed a complaint. They kept offering a 50.00 gift card. No thanks!
  • Scam.

Signed up for a free trial offer. The credit score information they provided was both incomplete and inaccurate. Attempts to cancel membership led only to being hung up on by phone.

The first time they tried to charge me my bank notified me and I had the payment refused.
  • here is the email i got when responding to a job ad on craigslist:

After completing the score report please reply stating: -The best time for us to hold the interview. Morning (8-12) or evening (1-5) -The account reference number you received after you completed the credit check (we will cross-check with our records at the interview).

I will call and confirm your interview tomorrow morning, upon completion of the above. If you have any problems please send a email message to our HR assistant at [email protected]

    Sincerely, HR DEPARTMENT

ok...now WHY in the hell would they need the confirmation number from the credit report when they said you could bring a copy in when you do your interview??? F-I-S-H-Y
    • My husband just received that exact same email, word for word. He thought it was weird that they wanted a survey filled out explaining why he wanted the job. But it does not mention what company it is for anywhere in the email. Very Shady
  • There is NO company that is going to job offer you without even talking to you via phone or something. This scam posts a job ad on craigslist. You reply, they email you back telling you they are job offering you but you need to go to....yes, you got it, click on the link....tada..Profinity. This you must do because they want a credit report because they don't want to hire a thief! The woman sending the email is "Linda James" from Ruby Staffing Services, Inc. Can't find the company by googling. Also, her email address is linked to a Linda Miller in NY.
