    EMAIL RECEIVED:

    Hello Joanna,

Thank you inquiring about my apartment for rent - it is available for January or February move in (possibly immediately for the right tenant). I am scheduling viewings of the unit and would be interested in showing you around the building. I have attached a few pictures of the unit for you - the apartment is available furnished or unfurnished depending on your needs.

Due to poor renting experiences in the past I am requesting that you confirm you have a reasonable credit score and would like to hear more about your current employment to avoid dealing with under qualified tenants.

I would suggest getting a free report from http://www.freeuscreditreportonline.com which requires less than 3 minutes and has no cost. No viewings will be allowed until I have received your score, this will also be helpful for other properties you are looking at and is a standard in pre-rental screening procedures.

I am asking that you complete the report and provide me with the numerical score, please DO NOT send the report as it contains sensitive information, you can print it for your records and bring it with you to the viewing.

If you can also tell me a little bit about yourself, your interests, and hobbies I would be interested in hearing more about you. Please note that I have received quite a few emails already and have a few showings scheduled for later this week so the quicker you can get the report and drop by to view the unit the better.

I look forward to hearing back from you,

    Allison Cooke

I TOTALLY FELL for this scam and was happily responding when I noticed that the LINK she offered was one I had never heard of and so my search stumble upon this page! Thanks again for saving me from believing this APARTMENT CREDIT CHECK SCAM
  • Definitely a scam. William E. Anderson
  • I had tried the free trial in October. I cancelled on October 5th. All was good. Today I check my account and sure enough another $1 charge from Profinity. The number given on the charge was 877-486-9902. When you call a live-sounding person answers. Do not be fooled. Just say "I want to talk to a live person". You will be directed to a "manager". Mine was Lance (employee # 9616). He informed me that the charge was actually a refund and it shows up a a charge first then reverses to a refund. First of all....NO. Second why would you need to refund something you didn't take. Plus I NEVER authorized them to use my account. I let my bank know and changed my debit card. We will see....
    • It states in the description that they take 1$ out of the account paypal does this to verify a real person as well.
  • I filled out form and I had an error submitting ok. I check my account has been charged so I call theres nothing we can do create new email and I resubmit I do error again charged twice.
  • These types of company's are trolling craigslist.org and proactively working with scammers involving appartment/room rentals.

The scam runs that your credit to be checked is a requirement, they sign you up, and abandon the trans, no see place, no further contact, no response. Meanwhile your busy looking for a place and end up with several of these.

I hope the scammers or credit monitoring agent/employee commision is worth the limp, I'm looking for ya. A theif is a theif...
  • my review isnt good I didnt even want to be involved with this company i only got involved because it was said i needed to be validated in order to locate unclaimed property missing money! i thought they was legit being from a gov`t locator site.they said a 7 free day trial to check your credit report on all three major reporting agencies,i guess i was charged a dollar to my debit card for this authentication. oh i was able to ref the credit bureaus but i didnt think i needed this reporting to go on over the 7 days well todayas trying to logon Profinity site to cancel,I couldnt cause i was getting an error that my email address or password was wrong well iknew my email address was right but was possible i had forgotten my PW SO for about 2 hours i was requesting an email to reset my password about 20 times i never got an email to do so, so after not getting any response i didnt want to have my account charged again so i called my bank to stop any charges from Profinity I ehaving to cancel my card to do so,and now fro that i will need to get another new one at my expense so all in all I`d say that company is not someone to trust
  • Was house shopping and asked to submit to free credit score in order to determine eligibility. Screen flashed over and told me i was not eligible for the service and if i had any questions, call some number. I figured i knew the reason and left it at that. A week later i notice i was charged 58.95 and called to dispute. I was told i would get my refund in 10 business days,22 days went by and no refund. I call again and i am told i should be receiving my refund in 48 hrs. I call back after receiving a misleading email and was told to expect it in 3 days! He just added a day. I realized i was speaking with a machine and asked for a supervisor. I was on hold for 10 min then i was hung up on. Called the next day ,spoke with a person who gave me the run around. Realized this is a scam and went directly to my bank to have the issue resolved
  • DONT TRUST PROFINITY!!!! It is a company that takes your money right away without authorization. I signed up for it, but had a sketchy feeling about it because it wasnt even a free trial, and immediately looked it up for reviews. As soon as I saw that most people were being ripped off, I transferred my funds to my savings then I called customer service for profinity and i got this guy who would not let me talk, and did anything in his power to try to talk me out of cancelling my account. He wouldn't let me talk! He even said that hes about to leave right now, so he cant cancel my account. And from there on he kept on talking about their GREAT coupon service, well anyways I called again and got the same guy! So I hung up and called a different number and finally got my account cancelled within the first hour after I created the account. So I only got charged a dollar and luckily not the $50 or even the $80. Make sure you cancel right away! Or you will be charged large sums!
    • Ippose you have the phone # that worked for you on Profinity do you??. i had a # that was listed when they pulled the $1 and its no good so unless you could help me with a phone # i`ll have to cancel my debit card to stop further charges send me an email to [email protected] or however you can cause it told me there was a 7 day free trial but i forgot what they said would be the actual monthly charge if not canceled and i tried to access my account online to cancel it but it tells me my email address or password is wrong and i know my email address is right but the pw could be wrong so after 20 attempts to request a reset to my pw i still have yet to get a response to either find out what my PW was or reset it thank you sincerely James Smith jr
