ShopAtHome.com Reviews
Is Shop At Home Legit or a Scam?

Shop At HomeShopAtHome.com is another website offering coupons and discounts to customers who shop at their website instead of directly at the store.  Shop At Home claims to link its customers to over 3,000 different retailers and over 700 different magazines and e-newsletters.

In addition to offering coupons and special deals, Shop At Home has a Cash Back rebate program where they allow you to earn up to 35% of the money you have spent shopping on their site in a rebate check.  You may get a rebate check up to 12 times in one year, though you must wait until you have accrued at least $20.00 in your Cash Back account before you can request a check to be mailed to you.

While many customers seem satisfied with the number of retailers linked to ShopAtHome.com and the various coupons and discounts they provide, there are some complaints about ShopAtHome.com worth mentioning.

First, people have claimed that they have difficulties receiving the rebate checks once they’ve requested them.  One customer commented that he requested a check when he had reached $28, but he never received the check and his account continued to grow with each new order.  But once his account reached $35, suddenly the balance dropped to $0 and he never received a check.  After multiple calls to Shop At Home, this issue still hadn’t been resolved.

Another customer complained that after trying multiple times to order a product online and being told her card was declined, she called customer service and the service rep told her it was a website malfunction and he would place the order over the phone.  A week later, her card was charged over $2,000 for her repeated attempts to order the product online.

When she called Shop At Home customer service, she was told that it was her responsibility to cancel each individual online order, even though she had originally been told that her card was not accepted, therefore no order was made.  When she asked why the customer service rep who placed her order never explained that to her, she was told that the rep wouldn’t give that information unless “specifically asked.”

In general, it seems that Shop At Home’s biggest problem is its customer service department.  Customers generally report good satisfaction with their stores and discounts, but when they do have a problem and must deal with customer service, that’s when the problems begin.

  • ShopAtHome ripped me big time on paying me rebates that I had earned through their site. After I made the purchases(Puritans Pride)through SAH I wasn't getting paid the rebate,so On their site I used their trackback to prove that I used their site to make my purchase's but they claimed that when they contacted Puritans Pride that I went direct through Puritans Puritan's Pride so that was why they wouldn't pay the rebates(about $20-$25)even though they had the proof I went through and used SAH to make my purchases. So it doesn't make a difference if they say they are offering any % back if they don't pay the rebate after purchase,so buyer beware when using their "Cash Back"Site.
  • does anyone have a number? I have a attorney on retainer and plan on calling the attorney general. I have tried to contact for 2 mo. nothing. just need to reset password how sad!
    • There is a ongoing investigation going on thru a NY lawyer's office and they are currently putting together a class action lawsuit for fraud.

The lawsuit will be filed by the end of March. Hopefully this will put a end to their deceptive practices.
  • I have used Shop at Home for years and previously had good customer service when there were problems getting my cash back credited but I think there has been a change in philosophy there. I had a purchase made almost a month ago and had all of the information (trackback number, order number, subtotal, date) and Shop at Home says that the store refused to pay because it credited another site. How can my trackback with them exactly match the order date and time if I used a different site? And the customer service rep then told me that I had received credits to my account before (I have used them for over 5 years) so I would not be getting anything.

I think if I were someone looking to try a rebate site I would choose a different one. I won't be using Shop at Home any longer or referring anyone to the site because they don't make good on their promises. From the looks at the other reviews on this site, it doesn't look like I am alone.
    • Hi Jennifer,

Same happened to me. I purchased a dishwasher from Sears on their so called TRIPLE Cashback promotion totaling 18%. They claimed Sears did not credit so my purchase was not "eligible". I went to BBB but they still did not budge. serval compalints about this site at reviewopedia and sitejabber. Do you get any recourse? You can reach me at [email protected].

      Regards,

      Sanjay
    • ShopAtHome.com only receives credit for purchases made by customers who use only ShopAtHome.com during their shopping session. When a customer goes through ShopAtHome.com, but uses a coupon found at a competitors site (i.e: RetailMeNot), ShopAtHome.com is no longer the referring publisher, RetailMeNot is. ShopAtHome.com recognizes that this can be confusing and we hate to see loyal customers get discouraged by this. In your specific case, we have shown you that we have made multiple exceptions, issuing nearly $50 in cash back to you, when another publisher received credit for your purchase, not ShopAtHome.com. Our Customer Service Team has already provided an explanation privately and discussed the details of your transaction with you . If you’d like to review our Terms and Conditions, they can be found here; http://www.shopathome.com/terms-and-conditions. Please do not hesitate to contact customer service again if you have any more questions.

      Thanks,

  • I have just wasted 30 minutes trying to print grocery coupons from this site. Every time I click on "Print Coupons" instead of it actually printing my coupons, a window comes up saying "Welcome Back, now download our browser app, which after I do that NOTHING happens. Total waste of my time!
  • THIS SITE IS A SCAM!!! I purchased a cell phone for the $150 cash back incentive and even though I have used this site before and I know how to make a purchase they still refused to give me my credit. They are refusing to credit because it's the first time they have to pay out a legitimate amount. They have no problem paying pennies but when it comes to real incentives... It's all BS! I'm going to the BBB I suggest anyone else dealing with this company to do the same!

They are a SCAM! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ShopatHome.com
  • I am trying to get to some of the review sites to ALSO warn people: DO NOT, REPEAT DO NOT use the SHOPATHOME site. I loaded it once awhile ago to give it a try. When I tried to get on some sites, it kept going to the SHOPATHOME instead, so I thought I had deleted it...BUT, NO. There are still sites (American Airlines is one) that I absolutely can't go on any more. Instead, the SHOPATHOME APPP interferes, but because most of the program is deleted, it keeps returning me to the home page..over and over. I have tried EVERYTHING to get this malicious, scam software off my computer, but nothing works. Not their removal, not the "special" removal instructions- NOTHING. So, unless you want to spend hours and still not get this damn piece of crap off your system (and not be able to use some websites normally ever again) DO NOT USE SHOPATHOME...ever!
  • I'm sick of writing I have been at this computer all day and it is 8:43 and I am tired of trying to get anything that is said that is offered.

  • I tried to use this site and it took over my computer. It is the classic definition of MALWARE!!! Do not use, do not, under any circumstances, load this into your computer unless your ready for mountains of computer issues to pop up. This program actually opened over 1500 web pages before I could regain control of my computer. BEWARE!!

  • SCAM - They are the purveyors of the "Lowe's $100 off" scam circulating on Facebook!!! They offer a coupon that will NEVER come. They sell your name, they spam the hell out of you and they never give you anything that you can't get somewhere else without collecting your private information. For example... They require name, address, telephone number, e-mail and credit card information for the very same coupon code for greatly discounted cell service that is available directly
