YouGov.com

YouGov.com is a website that allows anyone to become a panel member for free, in order to collect real peoples’ opinions from across the nation.

YouGov conducts polls and surveys about politics, public affairs, brands, and other topics of general interest. Once you become a member, you will begin receiving invitations for surveys. For every survey you complete, you will earn points.

The points you earn can eventually be exchanged for a variety of different rewards, including T-shirts, tote bags, gift cards, movie tickets, and sometimes even cash.

Not all surveys award points upon completion, however. Some surveys simply enter you into a monthly drawing for cash prizes.

A Different Kind of Market Research

Most market research companies are contracted by major corporations in order to discover what their target market is looking for in product development, advertising, or just general wants or needs.

YouGov.com, on the other hand, has a decidedly political aspect to their market research. They claim to be a non-partisan organization, whose surveys do not represent either a Republican or Democratic view.

However, YouGov does partner with outside organizations to gather opinions from their members. These surveys are completely confidential, and though your responses will be provided to an outside organization, none of your contact information will be.

When you sign up with YouGov, though, you must provide your accurate home address for two reasons. First, they need to know where to send your prizes once they’ve been redeemed. Second, some of their political surveys are specific to a region or voting population.

YouGov Surveys and Prizes

The average survey at YouGov.com will only take about 5-7 minutes to complete, though surveys can vary in length. YouGov says their longest survey will not run longer than 20 minutes to complete.

As for their rewards and prizes, you must become a member of YouGov before you can see how many points you must accumulate in exchange for a prize. Currently, though, they are giving new members a welcome bonus of 1000 points, so hopefully it won’t be too time consuming to earn a prize.

  • Firstly, they are asking opinions. That costs me nothing but time. If I don't have the time, I don't do the survey.

I have been a member for 5 years. I have redeemed points for a tote bag and a $20 Shell gas card. Received both items, no problem. I go through periods of time (months) that I ignore the surveys. Then I will do them again for a few months. If I never received one thing from them, I wouldn't feel scammed. Just not that invested in it. I just like someone asking my opinion!
  • This is totally not worth it, pathetic way to attract people, such a scam
  • Ok. So I had recently accumulated 5000 points and requested for the $50 award. When I clicked on "Redeem Cash" on the website, the page redirected me to my account's dashboard only stating that I did redeem $50 without any instructions on how I would get it. I emailed the YouGov team lots of times but to my disappointment "No Answer". It took me a year to earn those points and I had constantly answered their surveys only to find out that I have been scammed. I would be maybe boycotting these scammers in change.org.
  • I participate I'm all the surveys allowed for me 2 take via my smartphone

I just cashed out for the Walmart 50$ card and it didn't take but a lil

Over a week and I received it 2day, checked balance and for sure it

Was loaded with the money, I read everyone reviews and it made me

Skeptical but they honored what I was promised, so I don't understand

Everyone's complaints although I'm not saying ur complaints

Aren't legit, but I'm proof they did what they said..happy and satisfied

    Thanks
  • Very brief. If I do not get a response by 2/27/15 I will stop in and see the Attorney, then I will write an article and submit to the Hartford Courant.

    • i am angry at yougov for suspending my account due to my conservative posts; HOWEVER, yougov DID very promptly mail me a $25 gift card when i accumulated 30,000 points. after stating that i only needed 25,000 points, but still, my only complaint is not the $$, but the censoring of my opinions.
    • Curious as to what the attorney said about you not getting a $50 Applebee's card? Did he offer to take the case for free or did you spend 1k to get your card? Yougov must be crapping their pants knowing Saul is on the case
    • I've joined last month and took part on a few surveys and I had set my settings to recieve with doing just one survey per wk but seems that they just send em to me whenever. After looking into all this now it just seems that there's more bad than good reviews.I'm done with all of them!
  • My points reached 4850 last August and then no more surveys. I got around to querying this last month and never got a reply. YOUGOV are just a bunch of spivs!
  • I have not tried to redeem points yet. All these negative remarks are discouraging.

I have written a few times about questions ad had no problem.
  • I submitted my request for a $50.00 give card and received it in about two or so weeks, To my surprise the card was loaded with only about $11.00 when I tried to use it. I have since unsubscribed from the surveys. Take too long to accumulate points and them the request was not for the amount it stated it would be.
  • Where is my damn amazon gift CARD SCAMMER?
    • Right?! It took SO very long for me to earn all of those points for a $50 Amazon Gift Card. Early December is when I redeemed it and the site popped up a message stating that I would receive it within 4-6 weeks. About 5 weeks after not receiving the card, I contacted YouGov. This was on Januaray 13th. I asked them where my card was and if it were on its way. They never replied, yet the website continued to remind me about surveys. I decided to contact them again (today). I added a bit of a threat to my message. I'm hoping I can scare them enough into straightening out and giving me what I was promised. YouGov should be shut down..
  • It's just a scam!
    • The law enforcement lol what are they going to do? Shake them down for your 50 dollar Walmart card
    • I redeemed my 35,000 points for a $15 dollar amazon card, but never got the reward. I emailed them and called the panel membership line and no response back. I will be calling the Law Enforcement about this scam next week if I dont get a reply.
