YouGov.com

YouGov.com is a website that allows anyone to become a panel member for free, in order to collect real peoples’ opinions from across the nation.

YouGov conducts polls and surveys about politics, public affairs, brands, and other topics of general interest. Once you become a member, you will begin receiving invitations for surveys. For every survey you complete, you will earn points.

The points you earn can eventually be exchanged for a variety of different rewards, including T-shirts, tote bags, gift cards, movie tickets, and sometimes even cash.

Not all surveys award points upon completion, however. Some surveys simply enter you into a monthly drawing for cash prizes.

A Different Kind of Market Research

Most market research companies are contracted by major corporations in order to discover what their target market is looking for in product development, advertising, or just general wants or needs.

YouGov.com, on the other hand, has a decidedly political aspect to their market research. They claim to be a non-partisan organization, whose surveys do not represent either a Republican or Democratic view.

However, YouGov does partner with outside organizations to gather opinions from their members. These surveys are completely confidential, and though your responses will be provided to an outside organization, none of your contact information will be.

When you sign up with YouGov, though, you must provide your accurate home address for two reasons. First, they need to know where to send your prizes once they’ve been redeemed. Second, some of their political surveys are specific to a region or voting population.

YouGov Surveys and Prizes

The average survey at YouGov.com will only take about 5-7 minutes to complete, though surveys can vary in length. YouGov says their longest survey will not run longer than 20 minutes to complete.

As for their rewards and prizes, you must become a member of YouGov before you can see how many points you must accumulate in exchange for a prize. Currently, though, they are giving new members a welcome bonus of 1000 points, so hopefully it won’t be too time consuming to earn a prize.

  • I redeemed 1000 points for 500 Air Asia Big Points on Apr 27. On FAQ page, it said i would receive the Air Asia points within 10 working days. Well, i'm still waiting and i've sent 3 emails to inquire. I've still yet to receive a response. This could be a scam. Communication is dismal.
    • The day after, i finally received a reply and a prompt transfer of the 500 Big Points. They are legit, but slow in communicating and handling of rewards.

Better than nothing! Thanks You Gov.
  • is there any way to get more and more surveys as we can or we just have to wait for the surveys to come by YouGov ?. or this is just a scam ?
  • how do I find out how many points I have
  • easy surveys never get kicked out try others. took a year to get $100 cashed out for visa $100 and i got it in 2 weeks
  • I've been a YouGov member for 7 years. I accumulated 100,000 points and cashed them in on March 28 for a $100 prepaid Visa card. The site said it would take 4 to 6 weeks to receive it. I waited seven weeks and wrote to an email address that's listed on their survey opening page. I received a reply from Kelly Conner saying she would look into. That was two weeks ago. I am now sure the awards are just a scam to get free information and that those making positive comments are YouGov trolls.
    • My husband got a 100. Visa card but it took quite a while. It isn't a scam. I also got a Macy's 50 gift card that took only a few wks. to receive.
    • my $100 visa it took 2 weeks made it in less then a year
  • Weird. I did get a $50 gift card, took a few months but I also had missed some. Id I hadn't missed them. It said 4-6 weeks and I got it in about 3 weeks. So I'm sorry to all of you who thinks it's a scam. It worked for me, and I used just fine as well.
  • I saw the review and the comment about YOUGOV. And I am really thankful to share this review on internet. This is really helpful to me.
  • I have recently added two feedbacks on Yougov and I get the message that they are reviewing my response. As far as I am concerned, my comments are not offensive at all. I replied to the UKIP Sleaze that seems to be full of UKIP supporters. Also, when I try to reply to other things It seems to be full of Conservative or right wing supporters. Am I being suspicious. I don`t think so.
    • And I thought I was the only conservative to be silenced which happened in July when I wrote post criticizing Obama speech in Dallas Loretta lynch private meeting with Bill Clinton and James Comey decision not to indict Hillary
    • this is hilarious!! i have been fighting yougov for ERASING my CONSERVATIVE opinions. yes, i am a conservative republican who has been suspended for my conservative posts TWICE! read my prior posts here if you think i work for yougov. i am on a tirade because of my "suspension".
    • I suggest you look at the wikipedia entry for yougov and note the two founders, one currently is a conservative mp the other has stood for election under the conservative flag, I think the name of the company is a bit misleading, it implies a degree of legit officialdom but in fact is a Tory front company, handy for giving distorted results at times of elections huh?

I wonder if Grant Shapps has anything to do with them too?!or the wiki entry!!!

I don't know if this post will get past the Conservative Parties search and destroy web bots that hunt and destroy anything inconvenient on the net
  • I started doing surveys in YouGov from June2014 and I am able to collect 30000 points in mid of February 2015.I have redeemed 25$ gift card and I received it on time. The survey length varies from 5- 15 minutes based upon our answers. We generally get 3 or more surveys per week.So I you can spend some of your time you can earn points. Also the point accumulated will not be revoked at any point of time.I like YouGov very much.
  • does anyone know Yougov.com customer service email address?
    • Try these but don't expect much. These addresses came from an email that pretty much gave me a pat on the head and told me to go home and quietly wait. I no longer take their polls.
