YouGov.com

YouGov.com is a website that allows anyone to become a panel member for free, in order to collect real peoples’ opinions from across the nation.

YouGov conducts polls and surveys about politics, public affairs, brands, and other topics of general interest. Once you become a member, you will begin receiving invitations for surveys. For every survey you complete, you will earn points.

The points you earn can eventually be exchanged for a variety of different rewards, including T-shirts, tote bags, gift cards, movie tickets, and sometimes even cash.

Not all surveys award points upon completion, however. Some surveys simply enter you into a monthly drawing for cash prizes.

A Different Kind of Market Research

Most market research companies are contracted by major corporations in order to discover what their target market is looking for in product development, advertising, or just general wants or needs.

YouGov.com, on the other hand, has a decidedly political aspect to their market research. They claim to be a non-partisan organization, whose surveys do not represent either a Republican or Democratic view.

However, YouGov does partner with outside organizations to gather opinions from their members. These surveys are completely confidential, and though your responses will be provided to an outside organization, none of your contact information will be.

When you sign up with YouGov, though, you must provide your accurate home address for two reasons. First, they need to know where to send your prizes once they’ve been redeemed. Second, some of their political surveys are specific to a region or voting population.

YouGov Surveys and Prizes

The average survey at YouGov.com will only take about 5-7 minutes to complete, though surveys can vary in length. YouGov says their longest survey will not run longer than 20 minutes to complete.

As for their rewards and prizes, you must become a member of YouGov before you can see how many points you must accumulate in exchange for a prize. Currently, though, they are giving new members a welcome bonus of 1000 points, so hopefully it won’t be too time consuming to earn a prize.

  • In 2 years, I have gotten enough for 1 $25 gift card. Surveys will frequently tell you they will give you 1500 points, you complete the survey, and then they give you nothing. I refer a friend with my link, they complete the 4 surveys, nothing. My friend actually at first got the 2000 points for being referred by someone else, but then those points disappeared from his account, and it says he never even got it. And the surveys disappear once you start doing them. I may have 5 surveys available, I do one of them, and then the rest are just gone. A suggestion is that you should cash out early. If you want an amazon gift card, you should get a $25 walgreens giftcard for 25K, go to walgreens, and buy an amazon gift card with your walgreens giftcard. If you try to save up for the VISA card, they try to cancel your account or stop giving you surveys.
  • This is a scam, they never pay me for the surveys I made. Redeem my points and they never credit the money into my PayPal.
  • I've been doing surveys with YouGov for 2 years. After accumulating enough points to cash in a $100 Debit Card I cashed out in December, 2016. It is now March, 2017 and after numerous emails to customer service and a complaint to the BBB they still refuse to respond. Stay clear of YouGov.
    • The exact same thing happened to me. YouGov will not answer my calls, and I have not been successful in reaching them by e-mail either. Very frustrating.... I've been waiting for a $100 gift card since January. Today is March 29.
  • Yougov is a private company ..noncompliance will get um eventually
  • I find the whole system rather deceitful. When I first joined up, I received lots of surveys. Then, there was complete silence for a few weeks. I contacted them and I started to receive a few surveys again. Then it went quiet again. I have now unsubscribed from the service. I will no longer take part in any more surveys online. In my opinion, they're not worth the time and the trouble.
  • I've been using YouGov in the UK for a few years, building up to 5000 points (which always took some time) and collecting the £50. It's no scam.

But it does seem to have gone a bit quiet since late 2016, since then I have not seen any available surveys for points, which is disappointing.
  • Same as many here, built up a balance then, Bam! Can't log in and support says NOTHING. for months....
  • no good scam .. started this and i now get 60+ spam, scam and phishing e-males a day .. im going to have to change my e-mail address
  • This is a complete scam, I have 29,000 points and have never received a dime, they keep sending surveys and I have stopped filling them out for free, they ignore all emails and have ignored all the messages left on their recorder at the number on the website that is supposed to be panel support, they will never actually pay anyone anything, they are absolute scam do not have anything to do with them, waste of time.
