JobsOnline.net

JobsOnline.net is a website that, as the name suggests, helps people find work. With the job market in a slow recovery many people are turning to sites like these to supplement their work search. Sites like this provide a convenient way to search for work in a wide range of industries and locations.

The site requires that you create a profile in order to view your job search results. Now before you create your profile and divulge your personal information make sure to read their privacy policies and be careful of what contact options you select.

If you allow them to they will share your info with third party advertisers and open you up to a wide selection of ads. JobsOnline.net will also put you in contact with a career advisor that will speak with you about your various education options.

If you do not wish to receive these solicitations make sure to uncheck the appropriate boxes when you are registering your profile. If you have already created a profile and wish to change your setting you may log back in and withdraw your approval for advertising.

Is OnlineJobs.net(.com) a Scam?

Lately this seems to be the preferred business model of most online job search websites. In exchange for allowing people the use of their jobs database they will attempt to get their consent to receive education ads.

Often times this strategy backfires especially when people haven’t carefully read the terms and conditions. The result is many people calling the website a scam and accusing them of spamming.

If you wish to use the site and are worried about opening yourself up to these ads make sure you check the appropriate settings. Some people even go as far as using a junk email address and not giving them all of their correct info.

Average Rating for " JobsOnline " is 1.09 out of 5 based on 11 reviews.
  • This is a marketing site. You enter into an agreement that allows them to market your name.
  • I searched for video conferencing jobs, JobsOnline said they had 12 listings, and showed 5. The 5 were jobs I've seen on other sites like monster (same job title, IDENTICAL). To actually see those jobs and the other ones, JobsOnline wanted WAY TOO MUCH information. I didn't bother, because I do not believe they offer anything special based on what they were teasing me with.

Just use other sites, JobsOnline doesn't pass the annoyance test, much less the smell test.
  • JobsOnline.net must be doing something wrong in their business model for so many, like myself, to call into question their business practices. You simply don't see that kind of doubt on other sites like Monster.com or HotJobs.com. Here is an example of the kind of stuff brought up on other sites:

"...there are over 200,000 job listings in JobsOnline.com's database—but you'll have to divulge your name, your address, your marital status, your household income, and your date of birth to look at any of them.

No other job site comes even close to demanding so much personal information. This raises the suspicion that Jobs-Online.com is more of a direct marketing site than a career site—a suspicion that's amply confirmed when, as you attempt to leave, a bevy of windows and dialog boxes start popping up to drop offers at your feet. It is just annoying at first but quickly goes beyond that to absurd: After one visit to the site, a window opened that offered us the opportunity to send a sickly sentimental poem called "Friends Are Like Angels" to all our buddies. Do your friends and yourself a favor: Just walk away."
