Arise.com Reviews – Legit or Scam?

AriseArise.com is a company that offers independent contractor job opportunities to people looking for work from home positions.  An independent contractor is not a traditional employee.

ICs are contracted to work for a specific company, performing designated duties in exchange for a pre-determined hourly pay rate.  However, taxes will not be taken out of your paycheck, though the company you work for will be claiming you on their taxes, so make sure to put aside enough money from your checks to pay your dues at the end of the year.

Now, you will not actually be contracted to work with Arise.  Arise.com acts as a middle man between you and the companies who will hire you.  Arise.com does a background check on you, trains you, and then connects you with the company you will be working with.

Arise.com connects you with online retailers who need people to do telephone customer service, online customer chat services, and email technical support.  You determine in advance what hours you will be willing to work, and once you are contracted to a company, you must be willing and able to honor those hours.

You will generally be required to have specialized training for many different companies, however, once you’ve gotten your specialized training for a couple different companies, you’ll usually maintain working with them for extended contracts.

Positions acquired through Arise.com tend to begin at $10/hr and then move up the scale to $14/hr once you have a job that requires further training.

So What’s the Deal with Arise.com?

While Arise is a legitimate company, the most Arise.com complaints come from users who are upset at the technical issues and required costs.

First, the software Arise.com uses to track your working time and officially pay you only functions with Internet Explorer and certain types of anti-virus software.  In addition, their software hasn’t been updated to work with versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7, so you must have earlier versions to work with.

But the costs of working with Arise seem to generate the most complaints.  Of course you must have a home computer and high speed internet, but you must also have a landline designated for business purposes only and a set of headphones.  If you don’t have one of the few anti-virus programs that Arise software works with, you’ll need to purchase that as well.

You must have a national background check performed, which you have to pay for, and can run around $30.  Also, the actual training provided by Arise.com will run you $99 initially, and you will be charged various costs whenever you require further specialized training, which almost every job will require.

Finally, the software that Arise provides you with to connect you with your employer and track your working hours – in addition to the 24/7 support they offer you – will cost you $40 each month.

  • can anyone tell me if I become an ibo with arise do I have to fight for my hours,or are the hours available for an ibo
  • Has anyone worked for an IBO and they paid for training but threaten to sue if you quit on them for having inconsistency as well with not paying out incentives when promises 3 times? What can a CSP do if a IBO threatens you?
    • That is horrible. As soon as you can get away from them. If they will not release you. You may have to become your own IBO
  • Has anyone done disney mainline before & did you like it? Are there many hrs to choose from? Is it a year round client?
  • I'm getting ready to start the disney resorts class. Anyone have insight for me?
    • Guess who, keep strolling through comments and read Holly's. She is doing disney resorts and gave some good insight!!
  • I'm getting ready to start the disney resorts class. Anyone have insight for me?
    • I didn't renew my SOW because Disney Resorts is an ever changing wheel. I was constantly receiving emails with updates and constantly having to change my notes. I didn't feel it was worth the pay.
    • It was hard as heck. and a lot to do.
  • I just finished my certification for Walgreens but can't get anymore than an hour a week. How can I get my star ratings up if I can't get hours? Does anyone know a secret?
  • I am going to start working with Arise soon, I am well aware of the cost and have done my research. I would however like cut the cost anywhere I can, do they check to see what type of home phone connection you have? (at&t,verizon, ect) I would like to get away with using vonage if I can..
  • Has anyone serviced road America?
    • I have serviced the Road America client. I enjoyed it. However, like many clients in the Arise Portal, grabbing hours is often a challenge. People stalk starmatic like wolves over a freshly deceased carcass and if you're not sitting on your computer when the new schedule drops, you will be left for scraps with hours.
  • I have been a CSP with Arise for over a year now servicing the same client. I have no real gripes about paying for training or set up because it is not a surprise; you are informed of those costs up front. However, I do have a problem with the $40 tech fee per month. I had no idea about this fee until I actually certified with my client and recieved my first deposit. SURPRISE!!! I think its deplorable and poor business practices to require people to pay for tech fees to fix their own technical problems. Anyway, the client I service has plenty of hours available, i.e. back to back calls. This client pays per minute but time spent in Aftercall or ACW is non payable time. Here is the kicker, when you are taking back to back calls and have to do legnthy notation and do follow ups regarding the call you have to be in aftercall to complete these tasks or another call will come in. We have also been told if a cust call disconnects that we are required to go into aftercall and call them back. Now here is the really good part, the system AUTOMATICALLY puts you in aftercall after every single call that comes in. This was just recently implemented in the last few months, where before you had to manually trigger it. I have noticed since then that I am getting several calls, while the system has me in aftercall and am also noticing I'm getting paid less and less for the time I service. It all seems too coincidental that this is happening right around the time that Arise lost its biggest contract with AT&T (along with several other contracts including ADT and AMAZON). Long story short....they REQUIRE us to do mandatory work that they know we will be unpaid for. My IBO is my best friend and he has tried on several occassions to find out why I'm having these problems, and they have no answers to any of either of our questions. This causes my morale to be very poor, and I lately I have had little to no initiative to service or meet my SOW. I am desperately seeking other avenues of home/self employment. I have lost too much time and money and am at my wits end dealing with these crooks.
    • That is the very reason I do NOT work to get paid per minute. Only work for a client where you get paid per hour. In addition, be aware when Arise claims that they will pay you if you have high scores/% on your scorecard, because you'll NEVER see the fruits of your labor. Only count I the hours you work. Maybe that's just my experience.
    • so which company have a lot of hours. your saying the one you service have hours which one
